ADAM, the grooming atelier brand that brings a timeless barbering experience, opened its first location in Canary Wharf Station, London.
Designed by Eray/Carbajo, the space creates an unparalleled atmosphere in grooming. With its hexagonal layout, the design provides exclusivity and undivided attention to the guests while they are being served. Inspired by Turkish baths, its timeless materials like Marmara marble and natural chestnut create an elegant yet relaxing environment.
Big Box retail is increasingly placed away from New Zealand’s small town centres, taking the life and community vitality of the centre with it. The town of Richmond called big box retail back into the main street, questioning how to maintain streetscape and commercial viability to both large and small tenancies. Big Box can entail up to 100m lengths of uninterrupted walls to the street, a scale and typology seemingly incongruous with a greengrocer or a provincial NZ townscape.
Montreal boutique Délices Érable & Cie, designed by Provencher_Roy’s interior design division, won an award at the 10thedition of the Grands Prix du Design, the gala ceremony that celebrates excellence in design and architecture in Québec. Nominated in the Commercial Space, 1,600–5,400 sq. ft. category, the Délices Érable & Cie project was selected by the jury, among other things, for “avoiding the easy route of ostentatious boldness” and for a design that strikes “the right balance between rustic retro and urban modernity.”
The project involves the conversion of an industrial building dating from the 19th century into 85 units of social housing, and a nursery with space for 40 cribs, as well as a commercial space and a parking garage. The existing building, which has served a series of varied activities – first as a dairy, then for food processing industries, followed by maintenance workshops and a printing business – was built on a trapezius plan around a courtyard covered with an industrial glass roof sheltering delivery docks.

The new Herman Miller Shop-in-Shop at XTRA’s new flagship store at Marina Square, Singapore, is a massive and intriguing structure.
Occupying a 20m long by 7m wide space, the continuous surface stretches across the entire site like a sail of tensile fabric, leading the viewer from the low 3m entrance to the lofty 8m glass curtain wall at the other end. And yet, this structure is made of plywood!
The “Bottles Congress” project came as an answer to the very particular challenges presented by a wine and spirits store in unique circumstances.
Located in the outskirts of the city of Braga, in northern Portugal, next to Minho’s University, the client required a system to display over a thousand different wine and spirits bottles, designed in a modular fashion and capable of being adapted to different locations.
This project is part of the scheme to reconsider urban identity in the Centre Urbain, the new neighbourhood that is the emblem of the future Evry. Rows, set back buildings, an interplay of terraces, and “urban windows” create an openness towards the heart of the small island.
