Galdakao sports complex in Spain by SANCHO-MADRIDEJOS ARCHITECTURE OFFICE

Thursday, May 29th, 2014

Article source: SANCHO-MADRIDEJOS ARCHITECTURE OFFICE

This design for a sports complex and an indoor swimming pool is the third in a series of sports projects that follow a common thread of operations around an initial concept of ‘constructing the void’, in resonance with the concept of the void in the plastic world constructed at the end of the 20th century.

Bosbadhal in Boslaan, Emmeloord by Atelier PRO

Saturday, May 24th, 2014

Article source: Atelier PRO

Atelier PRO designed the new sports complex Bosbadhal in Emmeloord with an outspoken, sporty character, bringing cohesion between the outdated sports centre and swimming pool with several new functions. New additions include a large sports centre and lobby, the latter bringing structure to the various sports facilities. The most important intervention was to provide the old sports centre and new additions with one continuous façade, thereby connecting the mismatching facades and outdated architecture. In this way, the separate buildings become transformed into one sculpture.

Sports complex in Châtenay-Malabry, France by agence Engasser & associés

Thursday, September 26th, 2013

Article source: agence Engasser & associés

Located at the heart of the ‘Butte Rouge’ garden city in the Paris suburb of Châtenay-Malabry, the Léonard de Vinci sports complex houses a multipurpose sports hall, a dojo and annexes.

The project can be divided into two main sections:

  •  The base of the building which emerges from the park. The low height of the base is in keeping with the existing buildings and forms an extension of the greenery that runs from the garden-city through to the green roof;
  •  A ‘wooden lantern’, which forms the bulk of the sports hall and sits on top of the large green roof.

Wednesday, May 29th, 2013

Article source: Rossetti Architects

This project is part of a 22-acre urban renewal plan, connecting an Asian city with its major sea port. Its goal is to revitalize a depressed area by catalyzing growth powered by a new soccer stadium and mixed-use development. The design team carefully integrated the stadium’s site and program to respond to its urban context. An existing multi-modal transit station became a critical anchor in the northwest corner.

Sports Complex of the Royal Spanish Football federation in Las Rozas, Spain by Arquitectos Ayala

Sunday, May 26th, 2013

Article source: Arquitectos Ayala

We thought of sport fields and green spaces with some buildings near them and not of the contrary. The 120.000 m2 plot had strong vegetation and big drops sloping down to a nearby water course. The first thing we tried was to fit in the required four football grounds with the obligatory north – south orientation. The two public football grounds were placed five meters lower than the two training fields to be adapted to the plot.
