Mojave Rivers Ranger Station in Acton, California by Marcy Wong Donn Logan Architects

Thursday, October 25th, 2012

Article source : Marcy Wong Donn Logan Architects

Situated in the Antelope Valley, along the Western edge of the Mojave Desert, the Mojave Rivers Ranger Station is designed for administrative and fire personnel from the USDA Forest Service Mojave Rivers Ranger District.   Both client and architect aspired to achieve a building appropriate to its context and to the function of the agency. In keeping with the Forest Service’s principles, the ranger station is designed to convey the agency’s roots as an institution with “an ethic of conservation and stewardship, a close tie to the land, and an orientation of service to current and future generations.” The result is a facility whose form and aesthetic is largely shaped by its desert site and climate.

New city rail station at the Cologne Zoo by Rübsamen + Partner Architects BDA Engineers
After Rübsamen + Partner’s design, the rail station Zoo/Flora was realized and finally resolved the previously unsatisfactory situation. Although the zoo is the second largest visitor attraction (right after the cathedral), its old stop near the zoo and the botanical garden was located above ground, but beyond outdated and not even accessible.

Article source: 3XN Architects

‘Stockholm City Station’ will mark the entrance to Stockholm’s inner city center and integrates the station, a hotel and conference center along with apartments. The main idea behind the design was to create a building that gently adjusts to the area’s existing building in scale and expression, and which reinterprets a number of local Swedish design traditions.

More projects by Zaha Hadid

A gateway to Naples, a well-organized transport interchange and a landmark announcing the approach to the city. Our concept is a bridge extending across the tracks, an urbanized public link shaped by a dynamic architectural language geared towards the articulation of movement.

The New High Speed Station Napoli Afragola emerges from the idea of an overhead concourse for accessing platforms, enlarged to such a degree that it becomes the main passenger hub, in itself.

TEMPORARY JOINT VENTURE

RAFAEL DE LA-HOZ ARQUITECTOS – ACCIONA INGENIERIA

“Possibly the project could be understood like a big horizontal altarpiece which lights up, protects and informs” – Rafael de La-Hoz.

We propose a Station that pretends to be a real Terminus Station. Consequently it is not a place just to pass through, but a place where the passengers change their rate of movement and where the city of Huelva introduces itself to the traveller as well as the place where the city sees him off.
