CORE recently won first prize in the AIA Designing Recovery design competition for the Joplin, Missouri site.
Designed by Q4 Architects, CORE in Joplin, MO is designed to address the local vernacular by combining two single-cell homes: a centrally located \”Safe House\” acts as the hearth and divides a \”Perimeter House\”. The Safe House contains all of the functions of ‘home’ that are necessary for a family to recover quickly from disaster and live for an extended period of time until rebuilding is possible.

The client wanted a consultancy space at home. The farmhouse itself is a typical courtyard farm. In order to protect privacy, and also to avoid creating a door in the rather blank outer walls, we opted for a brick gate, behind which a contemporary framework was constructed internally.

At Champigny-sur-Marne, respect of the context and the refusal to interpret it led us to take a unique position. The site is a grand ensemble that was built in the 1970’s : a large zone of housing filled with towers and multi-story housing blocks near the old town center. The program asked for an urban renewal plan based on a new town center with shops and housing.
The Nordic Built Challenge proposal consists of three distinct parts: site, building exterior and building interior. The proposal improves the quality and legibility of the site by emphasizing the connecting backbone of the site as a pedestrian friendly boulevard. The overall site green is enhanced, new canopies and zebra crossings improve the experience of the site for pedestrians in the harsh Icelandic weather.
The long-awaited Villetaneuse Université interchange is now taking shape. Although this is a good thing in terms of urban development, it also exacerbates the division between north and south due to the ensuing concentration of networks and traffic lanes. Consequently, the footbridge serves a twofold role: access to the station and a link between neighbourhoods. It needs to play its part in the interchange at the same time as fulfilling its role as an urban connection between North and South, improving traffic flow. As an urban landmark, it must also create clarity for the town’s flagship spaces and buildings: the Town Hall, University, sailing centre, interchange, and so on.
The center is a place of care, sharing and coordination of various activities for supporting and relieving handicapped children and their families in the Cahors area. Located on the left bank of the Lot, The “Terre Rouge” district gradually slopes towards the river. A complicated underground where clays and big limestone blocks resist to geometry.
