Moor Street Residence in Fitzroy, Australia by Andrew Maynard Architects

Friday, October 30th, 2015

Article source: Andrew Maynard Architects

How do you create a home in 4.5m? It’s tricky, but a lot of fun.

A family of four had lived in this modest, ageing house for almost eight years. As the children neared their teenage years something had to be done. Abandoning their home and moving elsewhere was not an option as the family was an important part of a thriving community.

Yutaka Kindergarten in Saitama, Japan by SUGAWARADAISUKE

Thursday, October 29th, 2015

Article source: SUGAWARADAISUKE

Yutaka Kindergarten is built on a steady philosophy of play-based education, encouraging children to develop their thinking actively. Space that offer diversity of experiences by stimulating children to explore and develop their thinking was required to practice this education policy. In order to respond to its needs, we traced the word “kindergarten” to its origin – “children’s garden” – and converted the site into gardens for diverse children’s activities. Three approaches were adopted to realize the ‘gardens of learning through play’.

Sunday, October 11th, 2015

Article source: ZUS

The Luchtsingel is open. Decades after their separation, the 400-meter-long pedestrian bridge has reconnected three districts in the heart of Rotterdam. The Luchtsingel was initiated and designed by the Rotterdam-based architects ZUS and is the world’s first piece of public infrastructure to be accomplished mostly through crowdfunding. Together with the new public spaces, including the Delftsehof, Dakakker, Pompenburg Park, and the Hofplein Station Roof Park, a ‘three-dimensional cityscape’ has arisen.
