This project called for the rethinking of an 850 square-foot apartment on the seventeenth floor of a new condominium building in the city’s downtown core. The slogan employed by the developer for marketing this building championed the apartments as “…statements of modern, urban living.” This cliché of developers has come to describe small apartments that feature the very same suburban spatial logic of segregated spaces.

For the festival of Sukkot (Wednesday, October 12 – Wednesday, October 19) Congregation Beth Elohim in Brooklyn has commissioned a community sukkah to be designed by Babak Bryan, AIA & Henry Grosman, Principals of B-an-G Studio and winners of 2010’s Sukkah City competition. The duo’s design Fractured Bubble, was selected as the People’s Choice Sukkah of New York City at the 2010 competition hosted by ReBoot in Union Square, NYC.
LegacyER is a free-standing 6,200 GSF Emergency and Urgent Care facility in Frisco, Texas, consisting of Urgent Care Rooms, Special Treatment Rooms, Radiology Suites, and Trauma Suites organized around an elemental ceiling spine, originating from the point of patient entry, that bisects through the interior spaces. Aiming for rigorous simplicity and clarity of occupant flow, spatial qualities are likewise mapped logically through the use of light, reflectivity, and translucency.

Visiondivision was invited as guest professors by Politecnico di Milano for their week-long workshop MIAW2. The workshop, playing with the metaphor of forests, aimed to generate new visions to explain the contemporary and immediate future ways of being in the spirit of green design, resilience, recycling, and ethical consciousness. Our intention with our project was to construct a study retreat at the campus with patience as the main key for the design. If we can be patient with the building time we can reduce the need for transportation, waste of material and different manufacturing processes, simply by helping nature grow in a more architectonic and useful way. The final result can be enjoyed at Politecnico di Milano in about 60 years from now.
Movements and gestures of dancers are full of expression and tension. Dancers bring the fascinated viewer into an internal world of experience and emotion through the swinging movement of their hips, decorative arrangement of their fingers and smooth vibration of the ornamental frills. Rhythmic and dynamic music transmits the spectator into a world of incredible aesthetic feelings awakening all senses and inflaming the imagination…

The 3 story house is located on a typical dense residential area in Tokyo and designed for a family with a newborn baby. The 4.5m(15ft.) wide and 13.5m(45ft.) long narrow site was provided and sandwiched between 3-story houses. The family requested following programs; a parking space, a powder room close to a master bedroom, two study rooms for a couple, a living room sharing a Japanese room for a housework, a pantry space for kitchen, a roof terrace, and lots of daylights and winds through space.
Australian architects and designers studio505 are currently completing a series of iconic projects in a new cultural precinct in Victoria’s ‘sister state’ Jiangsu Province in China.
The home office of internationally renowned landscape architecture firm SWA Group is a 12,000sf (1,200sm) warehouse located near San Francisco Bay that was originally used in the manufacture of Liberty ships during WWII from1942-1945. Ojanen_Chioiu architects LLP was commissioned to re-conceptualize the 1980’s-era entry lobby that had outlived its functionality and lacked a strong spatial or material resonance with the firm’s work and identity.

This project was submitted to an open call for proposals for Pod Art installations at the Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival. Our proposal sought to create a reprieve from the visual stimulation present at the annual Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival in Manchester, Tennessee. The installation provided a spatially interactive experience – one which can be simultaneously viewed and occupied. A 30′ x 30′ gridded field of 1 1/2″ diameter bamboo poles defined the installation while selectively removed zones created privacy and enclosure within an otherwise vast, undefined 600+ acre event. The tight placement of poles also provided dappled shade projecting into internal spaces located within the gridded field. Ultimately, This dense bamboo grid created an inhabitable thicket to be experienced and explored by the festivalgoer.

Software used: Rhino for 3d and a whole lot of photoshop and illustrator on the digital things. A physical model was also produced.
Erie Street Plaza is a small urban plaza in the Historic Third Ward district of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The 13,000-square-foot plaza lies at the point where the Milwaukee River meets the Federal Channel as it empties into Lake Michigan. It is the final link in a series of public space activators along the Milwaukee Riverwalk, a three-mile pedestrian and bicycle corridor that connects downtown Milwaukee to the emerging and redeveloping Third Ward, Beerline Districts, and the lakefront beyond.
