V Tower is a residential high rise positioned atop of a base of retail, restaurant, cafe, and parking. The project establishes a new ‘ground’ plane above this volume by providing residents with an urban park occupying the full dimensions of the site and building footprint, creating a sense that the tower is built at grade. Among the amenities provided at this level are generous open areas of grass, a pool, and community garden.
V- HOUSE is designed for a private client and is located in the urban planning area “Nieuw Leyden”, a high dense area in the city of Leiden (The Netherlands).
The location of this new tower is a beautiful green area surrounding a lake and very close to the city. The proximity to the airport will give the new building an opportunity to be seen from the sky and not only from the earth. The landscape of the city area is mainly flat and with very strong sunlight. Climate conditions are typical of this latitude and are certainly extreme in some months of the year. A lot of time was spent thinking about what the best gesture for such a scenario would be. So that in one building I could respond to all area conditions and social expectations required by a new iconic tower. A particular thought was given to the experience that children shall obtain from a contemporary building.
Located in one of the most beautiful northern Italian landscapes, Villa Belvedere literally conveys the astonishing surroundings in one simple yet animated object. Its lightness reminds of the wings of a plane and the way it plays with light and shadows enhances what at first sight might appear as an elementary geometry. It is not. The whole house, located on one single floor and covered by one big statement roof is articulated to create an architectural experience of constantly changing views, lights and colours while walking through internal gardens, huge living spaces, a sixty meter long and top lit corridor, independent spacious private rooms and a secret hidden garden with plunge pool.
Within the development of Eastgate Park, namely the largest logistic and industrial masterplan in the North East of Italy and covering an area of 1,8 million of square meters, the new Polo per l’Innovazione Strategica has been completed. This new multifunctional building is generated by the cooperation between Portogruaro Council and Portogruaro Campus (Ca’ Foscari University, Venice) and has the objective of developing new business strategies by merging the university world, the business consulting world and the entrepreneurial world.
The villa is located at the centre of the garden allowing the building to naturally grow from the earth and to stand out like a beautiful tropical flower. The ground floor slab is suspended a foot off the ground allowing natural ventilation and cooling. The concrete mass of the slabs together with the swimming pool water are natural cooling elements that will absorb heat during the day providing a fresh and relaxing environment. The scheme provides for a very open yet protected floor arrangement allowing for a confortable inside outside living environment where boundaries are reduced to the minimum and enjoyment of an ever changing villa is enhanced to the maximum with balance and elegance.

Simple ideas have often been the driving force for the evolution of human kind, like the idea of the sails that allowed Greek ships to cruise all over the Mediterranean sea. Today, in an era of complex energy problems we also need simple solutions to difficult problems. To provide a new look to the tower we have to think more about the environment and the energy consumption that we would spend to climatize a building.
Initially planned as a holiday house, at the end of the design process – socially active family’s living house complex at the River Venta near Kuldiga. The place drags in to live there.
