La Fleur in Queensland, Australia by Joe Adsett Architects

Thursday, July 18th, 2019

Article source: Joe Adsett Architects

La Fleur exists as the result of a renovation and extension to an existing 1920’s Queenslander home in Auchenflower, Brisbane.

During the planning stage of La Fleur, three primary focal points were established to direct and drive the design and build of the house. This included future-proofing the house to allow for a multi-generational life span of the dwelling, maximising cross-ventilation throughout the internal spaces of the home, and a high energy efficiency rating. This enabled the delivery of an incredibly spacious, open-plan style home that accommodates the vibrant and modern Brisbane lifestyle.

The Glass Fortress in Bangkok, Thailand by archi.smith

Monday, July 15th, 2019

Article source: archi.smith

The building serves as the sale gallery for a condominium project in Bangkok. Due to its proximity to a competitor’s sale gallery, one of the requirements from the Client was that the building must disconnect itself from the competitor. Leaving a generous gap was not an option for functional reasons so the design team decided to angle the building’s orientation away from the main road to create distinction. Aside from achieving the main purpose, the solution provides not only a visual break on a dense urban fabric but also a greenery for the passersby. In line with a large green space provided at the main condominium development as a strong selling point, the sale gallery sets aside some of its land along the street to become a pocket park in a bustling urban area. A simple box was then placed facing the incoming traffic to create a focal point and to balance out the whole architectural composition.

Japs! cucina giapponese – Dante in Turin, Italy by lamatilde

Monday, July 15th, 2019

Article source: lamatilde

Concept

Opposites rule: light and darkness create an ideal separation, so the same space can serve the two souls in Japs! – fast and slow. This was a 360° project that went from interior decor to branding, connecting every aspect: for example, the decorative motif in the logo became a graphic and architectural element, in a relationship of perfect symmetry between image and architecture. Now each Japs! restaurant offers a different Japanese specialty, effectively connoting the chain’s different venues and sparking clients’ curiosity.

Transformation of Saint Rocco’s Church into a Theater in Rotello, Italy by Luigi Valente Studio

Thursday, July 11th, 2019

Article source: Luigi Valente Studio

The project is aimes to achieve the functional restoration of the former Saint Rocco’s church, for cultural purposes, while transforming it into a permanent theater and a multi-purpose hall.

Mildly maintained over the years, the building has been affected by general renovation works on the roof with the addition of a reinforced concrete curb stiffened by transversal steel tie rods and the replacement of the original roof with a concrete and masonry structure.

Being the building bound and of secular construction, however having a public non-religious theatrical destination from an earlier period to 1967, the works of stage adjustment, maintenance of the installations, safety and furnishing were necessary to make the hall functionally suitable to be used as a conference room and theater hall.
