The White Mountain School Catherine Houghton Arts Center in Bethlehem, New Hampshire by Randall Walter of BWC

Sunday, September 13th, 2015

Article source: Randall Walter of BWC

The site for this art studio facility was an abandoned tennis court at the heart of the campus. The School had originally been a private country estate, with landscaping designed by the Olmsted Brothers and most of the original features remain. The original owners gifted the property to the School in the late 1930’s but the majority of the original architecture was lost in a tragic fire in the early 1960’s. A new complex was built along with several dorms and all were designed by the same architect, John Carter. The campus therefore has a very cohesive “mid-century modern” aesthetic.

Yulman Stadium in New Orleans, Louisiana by Gould Evans

Thursday, September 10th, 2015

Article source: Gould Evans

Tulane University, a landlocked, open space-challenged campus in the heart of Uptown New Orleans, wanted to build a 30,000-capacity football stadium on an exceptionally tight site – in fact, at the narrowest point on the campus. The new $72 million Yulman Stadium nests itself into the heart of the Tulane’s athletics precinct. It provides a backdrop to a new athletics quadrangle while connecting to the existing Hertz and Wilson Centers. Construction began in early 2013 and was completed in early 2015. The new stadium marks the first time in 40 years that football is being played on Tulane’s campus. It has become a catalyst for renewed interest in the Tulane football program, successfully bringing back a generation of lost fans.

VALLEY HOUSE in Belo Horizonte, Brazil by David Guerra Architecture and Interior Design

Sunday, September 6th, 2015

Article source: David Guerra Architecture and Interior Design

Located in Nova Lima – MG, on a site of approximately 1300m² in the Crystal Valley condominium, stands a house which looks out over the valley. The idea was to build a house that had all their social and intimate area on the same floor, and the leisure facilities, a laundry area and a garage on the stilts, one floor below. The stilts release the box volume that turns to the landscape with a definitive sight, since the adjacent land is a conservation área.
