Ambient Tower Dubai- Thyssenkrupp by ZERAFA ARCHITECTURE STUDIO

Friday, January 20th, 2017

Article source: ZERAFA ARCHITECTURE STUDIO

Za’abeel Park has been designed to showcase Dubai’s status as a regional center for the development of high-technology and IT industries through a unique mix of educational and recreational facilities. The development of these facilities within a large scale garden-park setting has created a multi-faceted urban space within the city center for both residents and visitors alike. This urban idea is fundamental to the “new face of Dubai” and the future development of the city within an international context. Within this spirit, the proposed “Emblem” tower for Za’abeel Park should be expressive of the confluence of these regional ideas, energy, and culture which define the modern city with an underlying emotional reference to a more universal iconography.

This semi-rural/semi-urban new alternative development of 30 hectares is located in the governorate of Manouba on a hill near the Medjerda river on the South West edge of Jedeida city limits. Its eco-friendly planning design preserves and utilizes an existing olive grove estate, by placing small individual pavilions for collective housing and service facilities within its 4 475 existing salvaged olive trees and by planting tall sized trees plus a wild botanical garden for more local bio-diversity.

Light Box in Los Angeles, California by ANX / Aaron Neubert Architects, Inc.

Wednesday, January 18th, 2017

Article source: ANX / Aaron Neubert Architects, Inc.

On a gritty stretch of Venice Boulevard in Los Angeles, the PSPMLA office sits on a previously vacant 2,500 sf infill commercial parcel. Dubbed the “Light Box” for its simple geometry slotted in acknowledgement of the natural solar conditions, the 2,200 sf office for a boutique property management firm discretely slips into the streetscape of tightly packed auto body shops, neon sign fabricators, digital printers, and various light commercial businesses. The design expands upon the urban texture of the street, while also carving out a bright, naturally illuminated respite for the office staff and their clientele.

Astronomical Observatory YEPUN in Bío Bío Region, Chile by SUSANA HERRERA & FACTORIA

The ARCHITECTURE AS A TRANSFORMING AGENT

The reconciliation between tourism and communities has transformed Lake Lanalhue into a natural, economic and political resource. We are aware of being part of  our own time and place, in the Arauco province  where tense ancestral and  historical demands are taking place,  a complex period in many aspects, and instead of avoiding the implications that this entails, we decided to face this period by contributing from what we know best, and this is to act from within the territory with the architecture that makes us the most sense, that is the architecture whose action transforms and summons the encounter of worlds that at times seem so distant, but that share a specific place of the planet, a common place in the Cosmos.
