Thursday, January 31st, 2019

Article source: RVO Studio

Spaces, atmospheres, textures and light are the four key concepts to approach the Sundaram House project, concepts that merge into an architecture so simplistic and imposing that it is a paradise to inhabit.

The spaces are methodically distributed in three levels that contain two residential areas; one for the owners of the house and another one for their guests.

In the main area the garage and a front garden are found, perfect exordium for the living hall that welcomes its visitors and thus, start the tour to the kitchen, dining room and a covered terrace with a pool in a central garden and outdoor cinema , a guest room, laundry, two main bedrooms connected by an extensive corridor and a study-terrace that offers an incomparable view of the natural landscape of the mexican jungle.

Wednesday, January 2nd, 2019

Article source: Tsutsumi and Associates

The project is located on the ground floor of Chengdu Shangri-La Hotel with a street frontage. There are two categories with a single kitchen, one is for the Japanese-style barbecue Robatayaki, the other is for Kaiseki which is a traditional Japanese meal brought in courses. Referring two different traditional typology of Japanese houses, civilian’s house and tea-room of Samurai, we extracted characteristic elements and expanded them multiple-layered, so to create an enduring space without being consumed.

Blinco Street House in Australia by PHILIP STEJSKAL ARCHITECTURE

Wednesday, December 19th, 2018

Article source: PHILIP STEJSKAL ARCHITECTURE

Our client was a single FIFO worker at the start of the project, who wanted a laid-back and robust sanctuary back home.

He would arrive by car from the airport after a month off-shore, and wanted the house to be instrumental in readjusting his mindset back into an on-shore, city-based existence for the ensuing month.

The home needed to allow a gradual adjustment. Nothing too abrupt. Connection with Fremantle, but also plenty of privacy and dimly lit space to enjoy solitude.

A place that was gentle on the senses, yet also engaging.

Kanoko Building in Kyoto, Japan by EASTERN design office

Monday, December 10th, 2018

Article source: EASTERN design office

This architecture might remind you of the images of

  • Kanoko, a fawn drinking water, “Kanoko” means a young deer in Japanese
  • Like a collar of a Kimono
  • Like Origami , folding paper work
  • A huge thumb pointing to the ground
  • An asymmetric shape

The site is situated on a corner, so you can see two facades of this building. This is the first building that catches your eyes when you get out of the station.  Accordingly, we have designed this building not just as a simple cube, but as a funny and interesting form composed by two sides of the façade in order to make people create various images.  It is designed sharply, clearly and dynamically.
