This is a house for a single family, which consists of a couple and their daughter, in a suburb of Tokyo.
This project attempts to allow the family to flexibly change their way of living in one house as the daughter grows older. Generally speaking, the change of the relationship between parents and their children often seems to be caused by the children’s growth as the parents rarely change their way of life once they established it. Especially in Japan, it is very obvious.
The existing building from the 1920s proved itself valuable to the client mainly due to the surrounding garden landscape. Nevertheless, there was the aim to create more space and living quality which was to be realised through revitalisation and extension. The client’s main wishes were the adaptation of the existing building to modern energy standards, a clearer and richer living space, the greatest possible view of the surrounding nature and the integration of garden and terrace areas into the living space and environment.

The client has commissioned a residential house with integrated working area. The task was to create a clear separation between the working and living areas via a shared neutral entrance. The house was built on a clearly visible plot of land situated on a hillside. It needs to ensure an optimal development of the exterior on the one hand and preservation of the residents’ privacy at the same time.
‘little back dress’, a private residence for a young couple in a rural district of gunskirchen, austria. Drawing from the local typology of the neighbouring farms, the design is a contemporary interpretation of the classic gable roof form to combine a house, a courtyard, and an outbuilding in one monolithic volume.

“The woods are lovely. Dark and deep” -Robert Frost.
Apollo 11 is a house/studio situated in the middle of a forest of native trees on the outskirts of Santiago at the foot of the Andean cordillera. It was designed as a ‘ship’ that could land in the forest and then later depart, leaving the forest untouched, hence the name Apollo 11. There is also the intent for the space to serve as a laboratory; the house is used as an architecture studio, a rehearsal space and a recording studio for electronic and acoustic music. It is a capsule that has been designed to support its crew – a family of architects and musicians.
Customer’s program was clear and well defined. The building should include an exhibition hall at the ground floor and a loft on the first level; as well as become the image of Maison Passion. The location near by a highly frequented artery inspired the project’s dynamic. The sequence of the vertical wooden boarding became a noise shield frontage designed along the road. The extension,s screen frontage made of thin and spaced out wood, give homogeneity to the existing volumes, heterogeneous and obsoletes, creating a succession of plans more or less translucent. It let see though the background shapes and lift up like a curtain to create the principal entrance of the exposition hall.
A two-storey private residence at the edge of a small village in gunskirchen, austria. Utilizing the slight slope present on the site, the design lifts up in a dramatic cantilever to accommodate a shaded parking space below while establishing a sense of levitation to the living space above.

The composition of volumes and steps is the main theme of this house. We place interior and exterior volumes three-dimensionally. Series of the volumes overlap each other and create several interior spaces separated loosely without having walls and doors between them. Utility zone is swelled from floor, a kids’ room is protruded from a wall, and a loft is dangled from a ceiling. Rests of the spaces are distributed to necessary functions following their special demands.
