University of Innsbruck in Austria by ATP architects engineers

Monday, September 25th, 2017

Article source: ATP architects engineers

As a result of its victory in an EU-wide realization competition, ATP was commissioned to plan the refurbishment and remodeling of the Faculties of Architecture and Engineering Science of the University of Innsbruck.

The integrated concept proposed two highly contrasting approaches to the design of the two similarly structured buildings – which date from 1969 – as a means of responding to the different spatial and user requirements of the two disciplines (architecture and engineering). The suspended glass façade of the “Architecture Workshop” is playfully open whereas the precise, smooth high-rise silhouette of the Faculty of Engineering Science speaks another language while also acting as a landmark for the campus.

Tandheelkunde Radboud University in Nijmegen, Netherlands by Inbo

Friday, September 22nd, 2017

Article source: Inbo

Project Description

Cross-pollination and encounter are key words in the design of the renovation of the Dental Sciences Building, part of the Faculty of Medical Sciences of the Radboud University and the Arnhem Nijmegen College. The renovated building combines theory and practice in education, research and patient care.

With a façade, a new central atrium and new installations, the building is making a sustainability transition aimed at energy saving, an increase in comfort, flexible use and a contemporary look. The right separation and connections between users, between practice spaces and teach and instruction rooms, changing and flexible use – including the longer term – and the choice of quality materials prepare the building for the future.
