The project, signed by the architect Flaviano Capriotti, upgrades the resort to the highest hospitality standards, achieving the fifth star and presenting a new hospitality model: at crossroads between local tradition, innovation and comfort.

The opening is scheduled for December 2018, just in time for the start of the skiing season and for the Christmas holidays. The project comprises not only the aesthetic and functional refurbishment of the existing building, but also a generous expansion, through the construction of a brand new central body, which recall the typical style of the Dolomites.

Patisserie Hofer (since 1845) in Bolzano, Italy by NOA* – NETWORK OF ARCHITECTURE

Friday, August 31st, 2018

Article source: NOA* – NETWORK OF ARCHITECTURE

The Patisserie Hofer in the centre of the old town of Bozen / Bolzano (IT) was founded in 1845 and is the oldest in the whole region; now it is running in its 6th generation. Noa* (network of architecture) has kept all the history in mind and gave the shop an urban and contemporary vibe with a cosy atmosphere.

The owner Hannes Dollinger lived and worked for years in Vienna and fell in love with the tradition of the ‘Wiener Kaffeehaus’. Cosy spaces where you can enjoy coffee and pastry for hours, reading a newspaper and having a chat with the waiter, as you would in your own living room, were his idea of the new café. And in fact, the cosiness already starts from the doorsill. The entrance is formed by a group of vintage armchairs that create a sort of a living room and invite passing people to have a seat. In summer the facade is totally open and the chairs get part of the street and the city.

Silena in Mühlbach, Italy by NOA* – NETWORK OF ARCHITECTURE

Monday, August 27th, 2018

Article source: NOA* – NETWORK OF ARCHITECTURE

Moors have always been mystical places full of secrets and drifting moods. The specific characteristic of such a genius loci served as the central design inspiration for noa*’s (network of architecture) project, which entailed the redesign and extension of the former “Moarhof” hotel at the end of the Valser valley, which is surrounded by moorland at about 1,300m altitude.

The result of this mystical transformation is the 4-star-S Hotel “Silena”. With its’ swamp-coloured, organically angular and integration into the landscape, it appears to be growing out of the unstable ground as a place of tranquillity, strength and soul, designed down to the smallest detail. The surrounding archaic nature as well as the southeast-asian touch of the interior and the extensive accompanying program, which was specially requested by the client, were the decisive factors for the final outcome.

The project, which owes its name to the first patient of the internationally-renowned university hospital structure, is part of the gallery that was recently constructed between the east and west body of the original building.

The pavilion is presented as a laminated wood structure, surmounted by a continuous steel and glass façade in visual connection with the four hectares of the garden, which surrounds the hospital. The interior is characterized by the rhythmic repetition of a wooden structural system, composed of main and secondary ogival arches that reach a height of over 10 meters.

Savona 18 Suites in Milan, Italy by Aldo Cibic

Thursday, August 23rd, 2018

Article source: Aldo Cibic

A typical Milanese casa di ringhiera (a traditional tenement with communal balcony) transformed into a design hotel: this is the Savona 18 Suites, the project that Aldo Cibic has created for the Blu Hotels group.

An operation that began with the refurbishment of an abandoned twentieth century building that Cibic has brought back from the brink. In so doing he has preserved its architectural image and managed to retain the authentic flavour of the Milanese courtyard: representative of the “style” typical of that period.
