The project was developed after winning the tender by invitation held by Coima for the realization of amenities in the building Diamantino, which is part of the new development of Porta Nuova in Milan.
Casa ECS, with its special laboratory for artists, rises in Sicily on an area of a high environmentally-friendly allure within the city of Scicli. Thanks to the natural configuration of the territory it is possible to appreciate the gentle slope of the land towards the Mediterranean sea: a series of terraces, retained by dry stone walls, with olive and carob trees growing up on them, fades beyond the horizon.
Located in the Oltre Po Pavese region, immersed in a hilly landscape full of villages and castles, and in a flourishing nature made of woods and large cultivated areas, Casa D’Agosto, a small village ,part of the Valverde Municipality of 315 inhabitants, is just twenty kilometers from Pavia.
This small (120m²) holiday home of a young Milanese couple was built on a piece of land with a slight slope of about 3000 sq.m.
The house is located exactly on the grounds of an old pre-existing brick barn , demolished to leave room for the new building.
In the daytime being caught is the sky, a portion of blue sky that rocks the room. At night, the room looks at the stars. The wooden shingles surround the house, including the “chambre”. Trees crawl the house apart from the room, which protrudes away the trees, releasing the only cloud of sky above it. It happens that the color of the trees, crossing the leaves, tinges of green reflecting the blue of the room. The truth is that we do not know what to make of a piece of wood, to the extent that a piece of wood does not distinguish itself from another, it is unclear to us; only the immobile geometry of our dwelling distinguishes it, it changes it in poetry.
In the demolition and reconstruction of the Hotel Tofana in St. Kassian / S. Cassiano in Badia Valley (IT), the surrounding mountain range served as inspiration for the new architecture and interior design. The concept of the new “Explorer’s Home” transfers the athletic spirit of the owner family to the entire building…
The initial inspiration for the project which deals with the conservation of an existing building has been to enhance its architectural heritage. The architectural elements and decorations reveal its own history, in combination with the creative hand of the Architect. This is the ambition and the challenge that guided Architect Benedetta Gargiulo Morelli, along with her studio NOS Design, in the recovery and expansion project for the villa of “Piccola Londra”.
In the hearth of the city in Bozen, in an 18th century building, the first restaurant, market and wine house of the international brand italia&amore, opened its doors.
The office of Roland Baldi Architects has been commissioned with the structural and creative implementation of the company concept, which stands for natural, authentic, Italian quality food, that are produced according to ancient traditions by small producers.
The new extension building of Hotel Sonne, realized in 2017, is centrally located on Peter Mitterhofer Place in Partschins. Considered as an independent building, it only is connected by a bridge to the existing hotel. The Rasner House, formerly located at this place, was demolished in 2012 in order to create parking space for the existing Hotel Sonne. The new structure with its location specific saddle roof and the natural wooden elements integrates perfectly into the original village’s structure and provides the building with a traditional appearance. Towards the village center the facade opens up to a bar area with a large glass surface which appears to be a flowing transition to the interior. The south facade is generously glazed which allows a breathtaking panorama to Adige Valley. The modern rooms also feature well-chosen traditional elements which harmonize well with the overall concept of the design.
The house is located on the main floor of a historic building in Florence, redesigned in 1735 by the architects Giovacchino Fortini and Ferdinando Ruggieri for Giuliano Dami, favorite of the Grand Duke Giangastone dè Medici. The project of the Zeno Pucci + Architects studio had as main concept, that of revisiting in a contemporary key this historical dwelling, through the insertion of highly modern furnishing elements and a very minimalist style. The atmosphere can be perceived right from the entrance, where, due to the wall decorations, we are catapulted into a historical space well contrasted by the furnishings present. Here then is the perspective escape of the gallery frescoed by Niccolò Pintucci, which portrays ancient landscapes, shielded by architectural whims, partially covered by a wild vegetation. In the large hall, punctuated by a coffered ceiling of 1400 painted with geometric motifs, the furnishings give a modern style in contrast with the historicity of the room, as in the same dining room. In what was once the family chapel, a small study has now been created, but the atmosphere always brings a very sober and discreet modernity. Even the master bedroom follows the mood of the whole house, like the headboard of the stone bed covered in white leather, and the two modern chairs at the foot of the bed. Movements and atmospheres of a time that design the kitchen, where still the modern blends with the old, with the large sink in gray bardiglio that incorporates the color of contrasting decorations on the walls in pietra serena treated in bold ivory, the sideboard in corten iron and backlit opaque glass.
MAD Architects presents their research proposal Historical Future: Milan Reborn for the Scali Milano project, community-reactivation masterplan research headed by FS Sistemi Urbani (FS Urban Systems) and Comune di Milano (the Municipality of Milan) with the support of Regione Lombardia (Lombardy Region). MAD Architects, along with four other international architecture firms (Stefano Boeri Architetti, Mecanoo Architecten, MIRALLES TAGLIABUE EMBT, and Cino Zucchi Architetti), was invited to envision a series of Milan’s dilapidated railyards as productive social landscapes that establish a harmony between Milan’s citizenry, the larger metropolitan region, and the natural environment. MAD proposes that these railyards become interconnected micro-systems conforming to five spatial concepts: “City of Connections,” “City of Green,” “City of Living,” “City of Culture,” and “City of Resources.”
