Park+Ride Antwerp in Belgium by HUB

Wednesday, August 31st, 2022

Article source: HUB

The City of Antwerp wants to give mobility a more sustainable place in the city and the wider region. The development of a number of Park + Ride buildings is a crucial part of this initiative. As well as improving mobility, the city also seeks to lend a face to the access point to the Antwerp area. Consequently, the Park + Ride buildings are also public gateways through which people enter the region.

The Park + Ride challenge involves various forms of transition, on different scales. These transcend the space of the Park + Ride in itself but do need to be reflected afforded an identity within it.

Royal Museum of Fine Arts (KMSKA) in Antwerp, Belgium by KAAN Architecten

Saturday, March 27th, 2021

Article source: KAAN Architecten

After winning an international competition in 2003 commissioned by the Flemish Government, Dutch architecture office KAAN Architecten has worked intensively on the complex masterplan, renovation and extension of the Royal Museum of Fine Arts in Antwerp (Belgium), also known as KMSKA (Koninklijk Museum voor Schone Kunsten Antwerpen), bringing contemporary allure to a glorious, overlooked beauty of the 19th century. In addition to being one of the last examples of bold neoclassical architecture in the city of Antwerp, the museum houses a rich art collection that embraces seven centuries of art: from Flemish Primitives to expressionists, from paintings to drawings and sculptures. The Department of Culture, Youth and Media of the Flemish Government has invested approximately 100 million euro in the overall renovation of the building.

Antwerp Management School in Belgium by HUB

Tuesday, September 24th, 2019

Article source: HUB

The AMS Boogkeers project comprises the restoration and conversion of two historic buildings and the construction of a new building for the main campus of the Antwerp Management School. The project forms part of a municipal ecosystem of start-ups, scale-ups and support facilities which includes the StartUpVillage project located across the road (also designed by our office).

The building programme comprises predominantly educational spaces and corresponding support and administrative services. This includes an underground car park, bicycle storage and archive room. The auditoria and other high-density spaces are centralised in the new-build construction. The smaller classrooms and Executive Program rooms are located in the historic buildings.

Antwerp Tower in Belgium by Wiel Arets Architects

Friday, August 2nd, 2019

Article source: Wiel Arets Architects

The Antwerp Tower is a skyscraper in the center of Antwerp, which itself is currently being renovated from an office tower to a building with 241 luxury apartments, based off a design by WAA. The tower is part of a larger renovation of the area directly around its base–the Keyserlei, which is the main pedestrian avenue that leads from Antwerp’s central train station–into the center of the city. The design of the Antwerp Tower entails extending the width of the marquise-diamond-like floorpan, increasing its height to 100 m, and demolishing and repurposing the space directly between the opera house and the tower–to create a four story plinth at the tower’s base, for retail and office, with a roof terrace restaurant atop for overlooking the city below.

The Friendship Boat is now an office for a remarkable advertising agency. A rebirth project of the infamous Badboot (a ferry boat that partially sank).

The place brings visiting and working to a whole new level of collaboration, immersed in vegetation and fresh playful colours which stimulates creativity and thinking out-of-the-box.

Water

Why would you dream to work at an exclusive location overlooking the water when you can be on the water itself?

When clients come come to the boat you give them a whole new experience: coming on board for a meeting!

Monday, March 25th, 2019

Article source: WeWantMore

Bergmans outlet wanted to be more than a mere outlet store. Their ambition was to become the most inspiring European outlet store for men, women and children. The whole family should be able to enjoy a long day of shopping here.

Though it’s a typical 1800 m2 hangar location, the owner motivated WeWantMore to discover the limits between a genuine high-volume outlet and an inspiring fashion store. With famous top brands like Diesel, Replay, and others, the outlet had to become a relevant place for them all.

The Vandermeulen brothers’ ambition to bring a bit of Manhattan and those typical New York burgers to Belgium.

Genuine fast-casual dining where the perfect combination of quality and speed is paramount. The city that never sleeps was a limitless source of inspiration for the design. It was more about making choices and prioritizing what could make Manhattn’s distinct and aspirational feel at home in the Belgian culinary landscape.
