Est64 in Bangkok, Thailand by Silp Architects

Sunday, February 10th, 2019

Article source: Silp Architects

The Est 64 is a 1000 sqm office building project, converted from a 40-year-old warehouse on Sukhumvit 64, Punnawithi Railway Station. The former warehouse building was built as a two story reinforced concrete structure, with one mezzanine level and one flat roof. It rests along a long and narrow plot of land of 10m in width and 40m in length.

The front of the building is west facing with a 10×10 sqm open yard. The building is parallel to a local road and opposite an international school’s parking lot. The back of the building is in close proximity to the roll house that opens to Sukhumvit road, which makes Est 64 a very accessible and convenient location. During the construction stage, a single-story building on the left became the temporary site office for the contracting company. Right to the building are warehouses with metal louvre façade, which later on became an inspiration for this Est 64 project.

PANPURI hot spring in Bangkok, Thailand by A-ASTERISK

Friday, February 8th, 2019

Article source: A-ASTERISK

We have designed Onsen, public bath, for the leading spa brand Panpuri which is located on 12th floor of a high-rise building in Bangkok, Thailand.

When we visited the site first time, we recognized the outdoor view from the site was magnificent. Therefore, we have focused on customers to enjoy the views, not to create decorative interior.

Not to distract the views, the bath tubs are located near the curtainwall in black color scheme with a white frame. The white frame is not only to emphasize the functions of bathing and body washing, it became a frame of the outside view. And in the evening the water surface is lit and reflected to the frame to create a magnificent atmosphere.

HSH House in Bangkok, Thailand by A MILLIMETRE

Monday, January 14th, 2019

Article source: A MILLIMETRE

A typical townhouse from the 80’s has been renovated on the east of Bangkok. The dull and dark house lacked natural light and ventilation. The original windows were small and the interior lacked privacy due to traffic and pedestrians.

To have an open plan with high privacy is the main concept of this project. A vertical façade with multiple usages was created. It is the main entrance to the house. It visually separates the public road from the interior of the house. The residents can look out, but pedestrians cannot peek inside. The facade also works as a security wall which is what living in Bangkok needs. In the interior, rooms with only one function each have been merged into a more open and connected house. We wanted to have a double space area linking other spaces and rooms together. So we removed a floor slab on the second floor in the centre of the house. This created a void that not only makes the most use of natural light and ventilation, but also brings people together.

Duplicate-Duplex in Bangkok, Thailand by TOUCH Architect Co.,Ltd.

Wednesday, December 19th, 2018

Article source: TOUCH Architect Co.,Ltd.

A major pain point of staying in 64 sq.m. of duplex condominium unit, which is used for a home-studio for an animator and an artist, is that there is not enough space for dwelling. Moreover, a double-volume space of living area with a huge glass curtain wall, faces West. High temperature occurs all day long, since it allows direct sunlight to come inside.

In order to solve both mentioned problems, three addition items are proposed which are, GRID PARTITION, EXTENSION DECK, and STEPPING SPACE.

Thursday, October 25th, 2018

Article source: PODesign

Sale gallery for Brown Condo Huai Khwang is located on Pracha Uthit Road, a neighborhood road. The program is for displaying 2 mock-up units of BROWN condominium.

Folding industrial expanded metal is introduced on main façade. The material is to create delicate elegant façade and, at the same time, being sunshade for the glass panel behind.

The expanded metal itself has delicate pattern while it is not rigid surface. In this project, the expanded is vertically folded to, not only increase the strength of material, but also create the depth within the linear façade. By applying 2 shades of color, copper and silver, on each of the folding planes, it creates the illusion of light, colors and pattern when one passes by and when the angle of sunlight is change.

Nowhere in Bangkok, Thailand by Stu/D/O Architects

Wednesday, October 24th, 2018

Article source: Stu/D/O Architects

“NO / WHERE but NOW / HERE” is the expression given by the owners as the name and concept for this rooftop bar and restaurant on Ekkamai road. Inspired by this phrase, Stu/D/O reinterprets the idea of “nowhere” into the concept of the juxtaposition between reality and surrealism, which is represented through one of the most fundamental architectural element: stairs.

SIRI House in Bangkok, Thailand by GLA.Design Co., Ltd.

Monday, October 15th, 2018

Article source: GLA.Design Co., Ltd.

The building is more like their ‘Life Gallery’ than the house. Their lifestyle required space that exhibit their memories of traveling and their love of nature.

The first level open plan is for flexible space and matched with modern lifestyle. Although the house embraced by the greenery, there’s still the courtyard – connecting living space in the East Wing to the West Wing service area. The courtyard is capable of supporting both active and passive activities, spacious timber deck with fish pond and water feature for throwing a party at home and lawn with benches for chill out while enjoying the garden under the tree canopy. Affording privacy, a horizontal void at the gallery allows inhabitants to see their neighbors passing or guests who always visit them.
