Burlingame Eichler Remodel in California by Klopf Architecture

Tuesday, May 15th, 2018

Article source: Klopf Architecture

Klopf Architecture and Jesse Ososki Art remodeled an existing Eichler atrium home into a brighter, more open, and more functional version of its original self.

The goals were to preserve the Eichler look and feel without the need to strictly adhere to it. The scope of work included re-configuring the master bedroom/bath, the kitchen, and the hall bath/laundry area, as well as updating interior finishes throughout to be more sophisticated.

Telegraph Hill House in San Francisco, California by Feldman Architecture, Inc.

Friday, May 11th, 2018

Article source: Feldman Architecture, Inc.

The original house suffered from a plain, unarticulated stucco façade and unusually narrow, chopped-up interior spaces. The main living spaces were separated from the entry by two floors of awkward, dark stairs and hallways. But the house did have tall ceilings and the potential for stunning views of the Golden Gate Bridge, Coit Tower, and downtown San Francisco.

The Grange in Palo Alto, California by Feldman Architecture, Inc.

Friday, May 11th, 2018

Article source: Feldman Architecture, Inc.

When the client approached Feldman Architecture with a vision of a family home with a swing on a tree and a barbeque out back, the architects embraced the opportunity to apply contemporary ideals to a traditional aesthetic.  They integrated light-filled spaces and seamless transitions between indoor and outdoor areas into a classical layout to deliver a design as attentive to the house’s feel as to its look.

Blue Bottle South Park in San Francisco, California by Bohlin Cywinski Jackson

Friday, May 4th, 2018

Article source: Bohlin Cywinski Jackson

The first of several Bohlin Cywinski Jackson-designed cafés to be completed for Blue Bottle, this new 1,200-square-foot South Park location transforms the street-level storefront of a former Kohler warehouse into a light-filled, deliberately minimal interior space. The design reveals the site’s inherent beauty by stripping away the frivolous and unnecessary, elevating the most essential attributes of the architecture, such as original brick walls and heavy timber support columns, and enhancing the visible connection to the bustling SoMa streets.

Venice House in California by pod architecture + design

Friday, April 20th, 2018

Article source: pod architecture + design

Venice House is a compact, three-story house in Venice Beach, CA, huddled among the neighborhood’s densely packed residences and detached garages. The sloping trapezoidal roof and white metal and warm wood exterior walls make it stand out in the crush of houses.

There were just 700 square feet on which to begin custom-designing a modern three-bedroom, two-and-a-half bath house for this family of four. Since we couldn’t build out, we built up, stacking spatial needs vertically, starting with an open two-car garage and private outdoor living space on the ground level.
