Article source: MBAD ARQUITECTOS+X ARCHITECTS

As an oasis in the desert….interior oasis exterior oasis….just like an illusion….a powerful experience, to use, to be, to stay in, to see….

An oasis is an isolated place of a desert in which we found water and vegetation, that is to say more or less extensive portions of land fertilized by a water source in the middle of sandy grounds. in these places it can have small establishments inhabited; besides giving cultures to the near settlers, they serve to supply to the thirsty travellers and caravans; some times these were confused by optical illusions called mirages.

Sumo Sushi & Bento in Jumeirah Town Centre, Dubai by theWorkshop Design Consultancy FZE

Thursday, February 28th, 2013

Article source: theWorkshop Design Consultancy FZE

Prior to franchising the business, the Town Centre outlet was developed to establish the interior design identity of SUMO Sushi & Bento. Located in the centre of the mall’s octogonal atrium, the architecture for this first branch is a direct response to the existing context.

A sushi bar and satellite kitchen are placed on centre to act as the focal point, and the various seating arrangements are designed around the perimeter of the tenancy. Cantilevered and decorative light fittings compensate for the lack of a ceiling and introduce a sense of scale for the end user.

D1 Canopy Design in Dubai creek, UAE by Innovarchi

Tuesday, September 25th, 2012

Article source:  Innovarchi

D1 is an 80 storey & residential tower on the shore of Dubai Creek in the UAE. It is to be one of the showpieces of a new development area called “the Culture Village”. There are two main components of the development, the glass tower itself and an elegant timber canopy screen at the base. For the overall tower design Sunland was inspired by the Sydney Olympic Torch and the Q1 tower on the Gold Coast in Australia. Innovarchi was asked to re-design the facades to emphasise the sheer nature of the layered glass curtain wall. Like the petals of a rose, the primary façades are conceived as a series of delicate layers to protect against the harsh environment. The façade layers are continuous, monolithic, smooth and seamless, without texture.

The Lagoons in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, by Thompson, Ventulett, Stainback & Associates

Wednesday, September 12th, 2012

Article source: Bentley Systems, Incorporated

What is now 1,200 acres of sand will soon become a spectacular new community that combines waterways, harbors, lush landscapes, and dramatically designed skyscrapers. Thompson, Ventulett, Stainback (TVS) & Associates, the architectural firm charged with designing the Lagoons in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, envisions the project as seven islands. Each island thematically represents an emirate of the UAE and encompasses several specific, yet interrelated, functions that include central business districts, world-class retail shops, entertainment zones, cultural centers, and mixed-use residential buildings.
