Thursday, June 28th, 2018

Article source: Shirli Zamir Design Studio

“Ampersand” in Bnei Brak is a unique Co-working project. It started from two orthodox initiators who had a dream to bring work spaces that in terms of design and concept bring Manhattan to Bnei Brak. Bnei Brak is a city near Tel-Aviv, populated mostly by orthodox Jews. It is crowded and tumultuous but has a magic of its own. There is a growing need in integrating the orthodox community into the local Hi-Tech market. The project provides work space for orthodox start-ups and in addition, supplies work stations and workers from the orthodox local community, to work for big companies like Google, Microsoft and more.

Article source: joel jospe architects

High up on a street corner stands a residential property overlooking surrounding rooftops and a captivating view.

I chose to place the main entrance to the house on the quieter street side, on the vantage point providing the view, thus also orienting most functional areas to that direction.

Mount Herzl Memorial in Jerusalem, Israel by Kimmel Eshkolot Architects

Wednesday, May 2nd, 2018

Article source: Kimmel Eshkolot Architects

The Mount Herzl Memorial Hall is a unique place of commemoration. It’s raison d’etre is to be a memorial for all the fallen soldiers of the country, and thus contains all their names.

It is a project of hope for peaceful times.

Set in a calm biblical scenery, but adjacent to the nowadays busy streets of Jerusalem, the space is isolated and quiet. It was excavated in the mountain to form an intimate space for both personal and collective experiences of commemoration. Above the hall, the mountain is reconstructed of curved topographies made of Jerusalem stone. An undulating funnel-shaped formation of bricks opens the excavated hall to the sky. Its irregular vortex shape floods the space with ever- changing natural light.
