Villa GEEF was born in a compromised context in the first outskirts of Sondrio (SO, Italy) within a lot that was used as a relax time place by employees of an electric company. The large lot was in fact occupied by a building and playgrounds all around.
The remarkable feature of the “Gasteiger mountain chalet” today is its extremely modern and yet very simple form. The Innsbruck based architect Josef Lackner realized this structure in a hill above Brunico in the years 1972/73. A place surrounded by wonderful landscape improved by an extraordinary house. The house is a five-sided prism leaning on six low concrete pillars. Inside the main room, on the sides there are two big beds, while in the back, on the right and on the left of the fireplace and the kitchen, there are two smaller ones.
The Caffè Fernanda is part of a larger project to redesign the Pinacoteca di Brera and its collection. It is named after Fernanda Wittgens, the gallery’s visionary director, who was responsible for its reopening in 1950, after the terrible bombings of ’43.
Located in the former main entrance, the café is conceived as part and parcel of the museum tour. More precisely, it echoes the new curation of the museum’s 38 rooms by director James Bradburne, carried out over the past 3 years. Hence, the project’s chromatic and material coherence with the gallery’s new layout, and its reinterpretation of the space’s 1950s architecture.
CS apartment is located in an area on the south side of Trento, in a newly built terrace house. It’s surrounded by apple orchards and few one storey single family houses of recent construction. The furnishing project concerns the living area and the sleeping one, both set on the same floor, the first one, and the relax area, set in the loft. The project is designed to satisfy the clients’ needs: the family with two little children wanted a space which had to be both comfortable and designed to combine contemporary custom made furniture with old style pieces, found in antique stores or vintage markets.
Villa M is a renovation project of 2016. A jewel in the wild green of southern Sardinia (Italy), more precisely in Villasimius, a few steps from the sea and the beaches.
The intervention involved both the interior and exterior, including the construction of two small extensions, one in the main building and one in the small annex.
The main objective was to give more prominence to the beauty of the place, the landscape, nature and local materials, so predominant, that left no choice but simplicity and purity in the forms and lines.
This prestigious residence located near the Piazza Navona in Rome is nestled within a unique urban and artistic architectural mosaic.
The renovation takes into consideration this unique nuance and emphasizes it through the contrast with new architectural choices.
The double height living room has multiple views towards terraces and it is highlighted by a scenographic stairway that stands out through new LED light and old fresco.
Open space, plants and design. An eclectic loft in the heart of the city where art, music and custom furniture are mixed together creating a unique project.
A bright and welcoming space, where the materials enhance the sense of being and the pleasure of living. A balance between shapes and colors.
An open space on the ground floor where the diversification of materials identifies the functions; ceramic for entrance, kitchen and staircase, wood for dining and living space. The protagonist of the environment is the fireplace placed on a platform in absolute black marble that continues and becomes the first step.
Material and spatial concepts that are repeated on the first floor, where the study area is open on the stairwell and protected by a wall bookcase.
Light and expressiveness are the essential components of the interior 2T.
A little area completely renovated with simple choices and materials. It wants to re-create a domestic atmosphere, confortable and peaceful, where space and decor contribute to the idea of a friendly and fascinating environment. The leader of the apartment is the fireplace, firstly primary heat source during the early years of the apartment, later relegated to a mere object and now restored and given a leading role. Around it, revolve the two main rooms, living room and kitchen, that are also connected by bronzed windows to receive the light of the various exposures of the apartment.
The wall covered by filler, backdrop of the fireplace, introduces and connects the living area to the sleeping area, where the door to the main bedroom, different from the others, reveal his presence through its materiality.
The project testifies the attention of the City of Este to the invaluable historical site and the architectural interventions are in continuity with the pre-existing loci.
The old paths have been renovated by using materials already available in the castle. The new paving aims to improve the availability of the spaces, to give access to areas previously not reachable and to reduce the architectural barriers.
The exposed bricks chosen for the new walls consent to recognize the new intervention and to integrate it with the background. Similarly to the boxes in steel corten and wood that contains the new technological equipment, avoid a fabrication of history.
