Wednesday, April 18th, 2018

Article source: HUGO KOHNO ARCHITECT ASSOCIATES

Located on a lot with a narrow frontage, this building houses a gallery on the first floor and a residence on the second and third floors. The client requested that the gallery have a glass facade to allow good visibility from the street and be a single open space to ensure flexibility and allow for future changes in use. They also requested a separate entrance to the second-floor residential area, and a design that required no structural walls on the first floor, such as a Rahmen structure.

Kyodo office in Tokyo, Japan by id inc.

Monday, March 26th, 2018

Article source: id inc.

It is a shared office for creators co-organized by Japanese design office id inc. and photo and video company bird and insect Ltd. It is consist of office, library, workroom, conference room, and photo studio. As a place to create various works, space like a blank sheet without a strong concept was created. Walls that stand like drawing extension lines to the old building before its renovation partition space. The architectural structure has several openings that look continuous makes visitors feel more depth. It is a place to demonstrate how a new office for creators should be structured. The beauty of this office is that a total proposal from product planning, production, to final display can be consistently made. The pure white space has a gallery-like atmosphere so that it also functions as a place for exhibition at any time.

Article source: MOUNT FUJI ARCHITECTS STUDIO

The site, which overlooks the rice fields and the Tateyama peaks, is located in Toyama Prefecture of the Hokuriku region.

We searched for a composition that integrates spaces with two distinct qualities: one that is free and expansive, and opens toward the rich environment; and another that is enclosed to nurture intimate relationships between the family members.

House H in Korien is sited in the suburbs of Osaka, the second biggest city in Japan. This area was developed for housing about 100 years ago. Old houses are located behind large gardens, trees, and hedges. On the other hand, relatively new houses that were built in finely divided lands aren’t able to have gardens and greens. As a result, the backs of houses reveal unintentionally and cars occupy small outside spaces.

Floating-roof House in Hyogo, Japan by y+M design office

Sunday, March 11th, 2018

Article source: y+M design office

We planned the house for a family with small children in a residential area in Kobe City.

We had to keep both privacy and daylighting for the family because they were concerned about line of sight from other houses which are located in sloping tiers. We designed dual roofs structure, the floating roof and the lower roof. Outer walls cover the house like curtains which are hanged from the floating roof. Alley Terrace connects from the south side into the house inside. This structure makes enough ventilation and daylighting.

The premises is a residential area with many ordinary houses. In such a site environment, I wanted to avoid buildings that would give a sense of oppression around the company as a company building, and started a plan.

HULIC & New SHIBUYA in Tokyo, Japan by ETHNOS

Sunday, March 4th, 2018

Article source: ETHNOS

This project is on display at the Center-gai, located at the intersection of Inokashira-street and the Yumeji-street. The surroundings bristle with commercial buildings holding signboards. Our proposal is to visualize every floor as a volume in which through its full glazing façade, pedestrians can per-ceive the inner-life from the street. In this way, they recognize the building not from the signage but from the volume of the building. We produce diversity from maximizing the rental spaces through commanding the sky factor. External shaft equipment allows 100% rentable floor area ratio to pre-serve economic efficiency, and we developed a sash less, insulated glazing, fire preventing, steel curtain wall on the surface to mimic the appearance of glass in each floor as layers.

Sunday, March 4th, 2018

Article source: CAPD

It is a residential area near the capital of the prefectural government, but it is blessed with a natural area dotted with fields and irrigation ponds. Facing the lake, surrounded by lush greenery, it is a great location that seems to come out in the movie and folklore story. The so-called architecture of the picture is a site with the power which is likely to draw how much.
