The Cave House is a building, in which a modern design rooted in the legend of the Wawel Dragon combines with the idea of ecological and sustainable architecture.
The Symbiotic House designed in BXB studio recognized as the most ecological building of the year 2019 according to PLGBC, is a house in which ecological elements accompanied a contemporary architectural block. Our latest project The Cave House – is a building whose unique and innovative design is a derivative of ecological functional and spatial ideas and the principles of the so-called human-centered biophilic design, i.e. architecture focused on human health and well-being. These two issues – modern design and eco elements become an inseparable, coherent unity here. Moreover, they refer to the local tradition, history of the place, the nature of the surrounding landscape and the principles of sustainable development. The Cave House is a biophilic architecture, which, in addition to basic issues in the field of function, aesthetics, ergonomics and energy efficiency, focuses primarily on effectively providing the user with the necessary factors affecting his harmonious coexistence with the natural environment, psychophysical condition, and overall comfort of life.
The Lesser Polish Eaves Cottage is a house which was inspired by the Polish wooden arcade architecture. Eaves houses located in the market square of Lanckorona are an interesting example of such architectural solutions.
While designing the house, we followed the regulations stipulated in the Local Area and Development Plan, which only allowed for a single floor house with a gable attic. In spite of restrictive regulations, we managed to create an interesting structure of the building. We used the topography of a scenic plot of land creatively and we separated as many as five different levels, legally falling within the definition of a two-storey building.
Designing houses is no longer just about their functionality, but also about whether they are fashionable, hit the customer’s taste. They surprise. Architecture is one of those fields that is influenced by many trends from other areas. Much also results from the expectations of customers, but the architects are the creators. They are the ones who create unique blocks, in which we want to live, and recent years in design show that we do not like cliché and boredom. This is perfectly understood by architect Marcin Tomaszewski, who as the creative director of REFORM Architekt created a completely innovative concept of mirror houses. They perfectly fit into the environment, sometimes even merge with it into one whole.
Our design task was to design a dental office that is able to provide a comprehensive range of dental services to all patients in a personalised way, taking care about the highest quality of such services. The office is located in the newly-built Fi housing estate in Cracow’s centre. The Investor wanted to make the interior of his dental offices and other rooms in the clinic elegant, cosy and modern.
In order to meet the Investors’ expectations, we designed the reception area in a cosy, homelike way by equipping it with a shelf for magazines and books, a wardrobe, as well as some comfortable chairs and coffee tables. The room is painted white with woody elements, but it is complemented with pastel burgundy, as well as navy blue upholstery of chairs. Some additional elements include two round lamps hanging from a woody, linear ceiling and a large Malawi aquarium.
The character of the interior is created by skeleton of solids levitating in space. Black frames organize a functional program by emphasizing its components.
The base of the project intervention is the apartment, located in a renovated old tenement house near the Wawel castle in cracow, poland. It is a small place with a surface of 46m2, but with a height of 330cm in the light of the room which allows the design team to think of the local stratification of utility functions and the creation of a mezzanine. by analyzing the requirements and lifestyle of the customer, MUS architects has thought maximizing the open living space and creating a bedroom on the mezzanine above the entrance belt of the apartment.
ICE Kraków Congress Centre is a modern, world-class venue dedicated to culture – music, opera, ballet, theatre – and congresses. Designed at the highest standards of acoustics and mechanics. Besides the three main halls with 1915, 600, and 300 seats, the shell holds a multifunctional conference space of 550m2. ICE Kraków stands in the most prestigious location in Poland: opposite Wawel Castle, a location that influenced main design decisions. Hiding a multi-story foyer open to a panorama of Kraków, the Vistula embankment façade is spectacularly transparent. The outer shell combines glass, ceramics, and aluminium, with colours ceramic tiles reflecting those of the interior: red of the Auditorium Hall, graphite of Theatre Hall, white of the foyer, and the silvery aluminum used for the roof.
The highest value of the plot is a wonderful view stretching out. The idea was for the house to become its framework that crops it. The most appropriate building turned out to be a fully open on mountain landscape one-storey building, which gives the same view to all of the interiors.
