The town of São João da Pesqueira is in the most antique and relevant areas of the Douro wine region. As so, the necessity of a space to perpetuate the memory and ancient knowledge of the wine tradition emerged, and the Wine Museum has been created.
The Museum arises as a half-buried building, in a very restrict site with steep slopes, between buildings and located in the main street, that comes from the river, crosses the town and flows to the countryside. In the front, facing the town an antique wine press building is preserved and restored to its former glory, becoming integrated part of the Museum.

The project is the total transformation of an existing commercial space into a physiotherapy clinic. The space is strongly characterized by its proportion of 9mx33m with direct sunlight only by the smaller side. The clinic program is divided in four groups, common spaces, cabinets, gym and the spa.
The reception, distribution and the gym are placed in the areas with direct sunlight, while the rooms where privacy is needed are located on the interior of the clinic.

The client asked us to design an apartment inside of two fractions on the top of an under-construction building. They wanted a four rooms apartment with unified social areas and increased exterior spaces.
Being under-construction gave us the possibility to introduce a patio around which revolve the kitchen, the dining area and the living room. From here we defined the main axis which runs longitudinally across the house, dividing the social and private areas.
The choice of materials was limited to the ones available in the building so we choose the white lacs and paints to maximize the apartment natural lighting and wood panels in the distribution zones, in a dialogue between the abstract white and the concrete wood.
FERREIRARQUITETOS is an ArchitectureAtelier, founded by the Architect José Ferreira, which arises from his passion for architecture, fruit of the diversity of his projects, clients and various collaborations with different offices.
Each of our projects is carefully developed with careful attention to the specifics of each client, the demands of its program, its location, context and conceptual issues.
We seek to reconcile creativity with an open dialogue with the client and their reality, taking advantage of the new technologies, which allow a real-time monitoring of the project, facilitating the interaction between architecture, the client and his dream.
Ajitama Ramen Bistro is a restaurant born out of the dream and ambition of two friends in love with this traditional Japanese dish. After their journey in Japan, a long friendship was reinforced by this passion and search for the most authentic ramen in Lisbon. Unlike other European countries, Ramen in Portugal was an unknown concept until a few years ago. The two friends weren’t satisfied with the existing Ramen on offer and decided to venture into their own project together.
The challenge with Deloitte’s office in Lisbon was to redesign and generate new workspace solutions that could promote an upgrade and improvement on the quality of the current workspace. All of this, while encouraging a general increase in productivity and innovation, through the use of new work environments, both within the framework of customer relations as well as internally, with work teams.
Sea Front Villa gets its name by being a unique front line luxury property overlooking the sea. It’s located in Quinta da Marinha, a well-known selected resort in the Estoril – Cascais area, considered the Portuguese Riviera for its lovely dune extended beaches, ancient enchanting palaces and refined lifestyle.
Laying in a plot of land of 3.050 m2 and built area of 1.068 m2, this twelve room family house was intended to be a showcase for elegant, contemporary architecture and design.
The project was initiated by a commission to refurbish a traditional 17th century residential building in Porto city centre. It was a three-storey building with a large and complex courtyard in different levels (due to the steep topography of the city), which was completely covered by poorly built and insalubrious shacks. During the design process, the adjoining building (from a different owner) was added to the project, and later, another small building already existing in the courtyard was also included. In total, the project comprises 6 small apartments (2 studios, 2 one bedroom flats and 2 one bedroom duplexes), a shop and a (pre-existing) restaurant.

“I want this place to be my retreat, give me a bed and a bathtub and I’m happy”. This is the brief we had from our client from the project cabanas in Comporta, a small private residential project.
The initial project was just that, a 12 sqm bedroom hut with a bathtub, the “intimate module” as we like to call it. Gradually, as the conversations with the client started to develop, a new hut appeared on the project. The “social module”. Then another hut for safekeeping the clients’ car collection. The “service module”. With this organicity more huts started blossoming and at this point – why not a pool too?
