In Linköping’s new district of Vallastaden, Kjellgren Kaminsky Architecture has built a townhouse that achieves a passive house standard with four apartments. The townhouse consists of four volumes that differ in shape and facade patterns. The relationship is visible in the colours and expressions of the facade plates. In addition to each apartment there is a small courtyard with bicycle storage and a garden with patio and storage room for outdoor furniture. The storage buildings have green roofs and the façade is treated with an environmentally friendly wood protection and is grayed out over the years. The apartments have a flexible third floor with high ceilings that can be used as studio, playroom or additional bedroom. Each apartment has its own theme that is seen in the kitchen and bathroom furnishings.
Kjellgren Kaminsky’s renovation and interior design of its own premises on Viktor Rydbergsgatan 14 in Gothenburg combines caution with bold approach. The office is housed in a 1917 listed shipowner’s villa, so all solutions are reversible and in harmony with the beautiful original decor. We have chosen a warm color scheme with soft and genuine materials that match the original wooden walls. From the main entrance you enter the office’s meeting room, a stepped seating area combined with the library. A large open space has been divided into smaller spaces using newly built meeting rooms and shelf walls. The office has been furnished with a large proportion of used and self-manufactured furniture. The work on BREEAM certification of the office is underway, which affects both the interior and the daily work.
The elderly care is a part of the city block Skärvet, which is the starting point of Bäckaslöv, a new urban district in Växjö being developed along the railway connecting the city centre to the lake Norra Bergundasjön. The L- shaped building is the first phase and the cornerstone of the city block, offering mixed forms of tenure around a spacious, shared courtyard.
At the edge of every city there are sparsely populated areas with various industrial and commercial buildings and warehouses. The houses are practically indistinguishable from one another, often built in simple materials and using the same jargon. Areas like these are problematic for a number of reasons, and yet they are accepted as an unavoidable part of the urban nature, not unlike a paunch in middle age or rubbish outside of an ice cream dealer in the summertime.

Värtaverket is surrounded by industrial, office, residential and recreational areas. This major extension was required to show consideration for its neighbours, and respect the presence of a number of protected oak trees and the function of the area as a fauna path between the northern and southern parts of Djurgården – a scenic area that blends into Stockholm proper.
Östra Kvillebäcken is designed as a dense and vibrant neighbourhood with a strong focus on sustainability. Therefore, it is a Miljöbyggnad Silver certified neighborhood. Our buildings find inspiration in the inner city and its urban qualities. Artistic decoration related to the location and material treatment gives the buildings their own contemporary identity. The Housing estate forms a green oasis with islands of activity. There are natural meeting places with different themes along the pathway that leads visitors through the neighborhood. The communal hall is a place for celebration, overnight stay or meetings. Adjacent to this room is also a communal facility in the yard with laundry area and space for socializing. The homes are generally space efficient with few awkward spaces. In the design, we have worked with basic architectural qualities: axiality, room connection and views-through.
Magasin 113 is located within Gothenburg’s future Frihamnen RiverCity — the largest urban development project in Scandinavia. The proposed 16,500m2 transformation and extension of the existing warehouse is located on the riverfront, will create a more inclusive and vibrant area of the city. The entire site occupies the edge of an existing public square while Magasin 113 itself located in an existing historical warehouse structure which will offer flexible offices, an art centre, pop-up spaces, a café, tourist information, shops, a restaurant and studios. Gothenburg-based advertising agency Forsman & Bodenfors and Göteborgs Konsthall have plans to establish its offices in the building.
The site is a promontory on the relatively small island of Krokholmen in Stockholm’s outer archipelago: a typical archipelago landscape with windswept dwarf pines and soft mountain outcrops produced by the inland ice. The plot benefits from open views, in the east all the way out to the lighthouse Almagrundet in the open sea, and it is at times exposed to strong winds. The family wanted a maintenance-free vacation home in one level with social space both inside and outside.

“On Blekingegatan in Södermalm, the hip epicentre of what used to be Stockholm’s working class neighbourhood, lies a unique apartment building. Something like it has never before existed here. The name is Obelisken 29.
