Baan San Kraam Sales Office in Petchburi, Thailand by Somdoon Architects LtdMarch 21st, 2012 by Sumit Singhal
Article source: Somdoon Architects Ltd Baan San Kraam is the beach town condominiums development where the sales office is built near to the beach for people to see the show units and experience the nature of the sea. The architectural idea is simple and straight forward as this sales office is an entrance of the 2 show units. It is a platform for people to absorb the atmosphere of the sea.
The beams spanned across 14 meter length provide a framing of the great sea view. There are large sliding panels which provide enclosure to the sales office during a few months of raining period, apart from that period, the sliding panels are completely concealed within the wooden walls allowing natural cool air to breeze through. The wooden deck at ground level folded up as a wide staircase connecting people from ground level to roof deck where they can see the view of the horizon. The 2 show units are the mock up of the typical units in the project, where all essential components were built such as curved balcony with built-up seating, architectural fins with twisted mild curve similar to the sail’s shape. These components were being developed, tested and modified to achieve the effect for the overall project. The landscape design was done by Sanitas Studio. They tried to keep the existing trees and the recreate the waves in variation of abstract forms. Contact Somdoon Architects Ltd
