YPF Offices Building in Buenos Aires, Argentina by Gianserra + Lima arquitectosOctober 25th, 2019 by Sumit Singhal
Article source: Gianserra + Lima arquitectos This office building is located in an Industrial Park belonging to the Argentine energy company YPF (Yacimiento Petrolíferos Fiscales S.A.), located in the town of Ensenada, Buenos Aires, Argentina. The order is the result of the first prize of a private preliminary draft contest held in 2015, whose program sought the extension and annex of the current Purchasing and Contracting Building, built on the same site, generating 3,000 m2 of new jobs, circulation and meeting spaces, and services.
The project proposes a building located parallel to the existing building, linked to it through the circulatory system, and thus consolidating two green access and expansion yards. It is composed on the one hand, of a transparent volume that contains a large hall of three heights that unifies the plants, and functions as circulation and meeting space. This space maintains visual permeability to the outside, and seeks to dilute the inner / outer limit by incorporating vegetation inside, and the materialization of a reflective glass skin of the environment. On the other hand, a large structure of reinforced concrete (mezzanine without beams) allows flexible distribution in the two levels of offices, finishing at each end with wet and outer circulation cores. The complexity in the general materialization lay in the particular environment, exclusively Industrial. For this reason, it was sought to work with materials that dialogue with existing ones: glass skin towards the existing building, perforated sheet at the ends marking the wet cores, metal stairs in the circulations, and horizontal aluminum parasols on the northwest facade, looking for both solar and visual control.
