The Void in Jeonllanam-do, Korea by Hyunjoon Yoo Architects

Sunday, July 24th, 2016

Article source: Hyunjoon Yoo Architects

The Community Center in Aphae-do, Shinan-gun, Jeollanam-do is located on a special site, and has a special programme. First of all, it was my first building project to be built on an island. Second, the main programme of the building was the public bath and restaurant for the elders in the village. The elders, who make up most of the population in the fishing village, do not have a decent bathing facility in their home.

Bath Kitchen House in Funabashi, Japan by TakeshiShikauchi Architect Office

Wednesday, October 8th, 2014

Article source: TakeshiShikauchi Architect Office

According to Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism,  it is said that there are 1.29 million condominium apartments which is over 30 years old and it is estimated to increase up to 4.47 million in 30 years. Residents will get old together with the building and there will be many cases that refurbishment and rehabilitation are not possible due to the cost repair issues. It could lead to vacancy and turn into slum centering in urban areas.Imbalance of generation, aging of residents and dilapidated buildings are something that are inextricable to each other.

Safe Haven Bathhouse in Ban Tha Song Yang, Thailand by TYIN tegnestue Architects

Tuesday, January 14th, 2014

Article source:  TYIN tegnestue Architects

The new sanitary building houses the basic needs of the orphanage; the toilets, personal hygiene facilities and laundry. The internal structure was already built and became the framework for the project.

The most intimate functions are located within the two plastered concrete masses. The central zone contains concrete containers for bathing and opens out towards the vast teak plantation. The bathing area is only partly privatized, adapted to Karen culture. A tilted facade of bamboo covers the front of the building and creates a passageway, connecting the two functions together.

A cutting edge modern home both architecturally and with finishes such as enormous expanses of glass, concrete, sandstone and basalt.

Bodypuzzle in Vienna, Austria by heri&salli

Wednesday, March 6th, 2013

Article source: heri&salli

The architect’s office heri&salli from Vienna/Austria designed in an apartment of a private building owner a bathroom where mutually alternating fragmentary mirror surfaces and lighting fixtures form a conglomerate like a jigsaw puzzle of an image and a reflection. Sections of the room are more indicated momentarily than carried through. Man nowadays renews almost at will the outer appearance of his body or in other words of the parts of his body. From a superficial point of view it’s possible to say that a human being consists more of fragments than a grown entity.

Aqualux Therme Fohnsdorf in Styria, Austria by Architekten Titus Walter Pernthaler ZT GmbH

Wednesday, December 12th, 2012

Article source: Architekten Titus Walter Pernthaler ZT GmbH

The history of Fohnsdorf as a coal mining town serves as the inspirational starting point for the design of the thermal bath. The building is situated as a monolithic block seemingly growing out of the existing topography by analogy with the characteristical form of a coal seam.
