Thursday, July 12th, 2018

Article source: ROBERT GREG SHAND ARCHITECTS

The property in Singapore’s Luxury Island Resort of Sentosa Cove is built on a long narrow plot with views to the rear of the Sentosa Golf Course.  The design inspiration for the house was a traditional Japanese courtyard house, with rooms spilling onto terraces that surround a central courtyard garden.  Combined with a holistic approach to sustainability and climactic needs, this contemporary beach house is a refreshing escape for the family that owns it.

Pino familia in Seoul, South Korea by Moon Hoon

Tuesday, May 29th, 2018

Article source: Moon Hoon

The 300pyong irregular shaped piece of land near the outskirt of north eastern Seoul simultaneously faces forests and the dense urban conditions. The boundary that faces the city is walled up according to wishes of the client, who is both an avid collector of Pinocchio dolls and artifacts from around the world, and owner of a private kinder-garden. The client had a programmatic vision for a museum and galleries where her Pinocchio collections and related collections and designs could be enjoyed and experienced.  The first building was envisioned as mainly as a Pinocchio doll museum with some seating areas for watching performances. There was a request for an outdoor hall where make shift arena could take place. The second building was to house many other character designs related to Pinocchio, with an emphasis on interactive program and a larger auditorium for movies, concerts and other congregational uses. The third building needed to accommodate a museum shop with a cafeteria, and some workshop space.

Go Orthodontistes Brossard Clinic in Canada by Natasha Thorpe

Tuesday, May 1st, 2018

Article source: v2com

Located within a commercial complex, Go Orthodontistes clinic is accessible by a long hallway, which serves as a passageway between the exterior commercial complex and the carefully crafted universe that lies within.

In order to create a cohesive space of total design, it was necessary to conceive the interior space simultaneously with the elements of industrial design. The wood slats inform all interventions and the open layout, with its curved surfaces and reveals, mitigates confusion, favouring openness.

The House of Sports in Bezons, France by aEa, agence Engasser+associés

Wednesday, April 25th, 2018

Article source: v2com

How to fit into a site at the heart of an overall restructuring project on a city-wide scale and design an extension on an already very crowded plot of land?

As one consistent entity, the Sports Centre pulls together a large number of elements from different briefs, i.e. an already-existing gymnasium, swimming pool and indoor tennis courts with the creation of a multi-purpose arena, a boxing hall, a bodybuilding hall, two dojos, a football pitch with stands, outdoor tennis courts and a clubhouse.

The new building fits in as a unique wing to the west of the existing L-shaped buildings, unifying the whole in a U configuration.

This creates an inner courtyard, a genuine place to breathe between buildings and a generator of light that unifies all access points.

The Tetrisception in New Delhi, India by RENESA ARCHITECTURE DESIGN INTERIORS STUDIO

Friday, April 6th, 2018

Article source: RENESA ARCHITECTURE DESIGN INTERIORS STUDIO

Learning environments are ever growing and changing. There is a growing awareness among societies and culture for pre-schools to be diverse and provide learning environments through the built form. As learning spaces re-focus on team-based, interdisciplinary learning, they are moving away from standardized , one-size-fits-all approach to teaching. Instead, it is becoming a norm that students learn in a variety of ways, and the differences be supported. Students often learn better by doing it themselves, so teachers are there to facilitate, not just to instruct. Here, the built Tetris-ized environment becomes an enabler and a catalyst to nurture the young minds of pre-school students.
