Picturesque house with a pond in Saint Petersburg, Russia by RYMAR.studio

Article source: RYMAR.studio

The site is located in the Repino resort area of St. Petersburg. Two-storey house with a total area of 825 m2 is positioned on a picturesque lot of 0.2 hectares with a minimum slope. The architectural style is minimalistic, yet not ascetic. The concept is based on laconic forms, strict silhouette and clear zoning. The project was inspired by the work of Ludwig Mies van der Rohe, a leading figure of modernist architect generation of the 20th century. At the heart of his “less is more” philosophy lies the clarity and comprehensibility of the design. Architectural simplicity is expressed in the ephemerality of the structure, free planning and homogeneity of façade materials.

Villa on Iseo Lake in Italy by RYMAR.studio

Wednesday, May 10th, 2023

Article source: RYMAR.studio

The site is located in a picturesque valley in the northern part of Italy, in the Lombard Prealps, somewhere in between the cities of Bergamo and Brescia. This location was chosen specifically in the province of Solto Collina, as it offers the best views of Lake Iseo, mountain landscapes, walnut trees and Franciacorta vineyards. A permanent residence for a large family occupies two floors and a total area of 1150 sq.m. on a relief plot of 0.5 hectares. The symbiosis of exterior and interior environment, the harmony of architecture and nature allow you to live consciously. Safety and comfort are expressed in ageless natural materials, personalised layouts, smart engineering systems, minimalistic landscape design and sustainable interior. Snow-white architectural concrete, teak, natural chipped stone and metal serve as facade materials. The unfolding silhouette is achieved with a help of frameless glazing – the roof line creates a single horizon. Airiness is created due to the contrasting combination of glass and wood volumes. The plasticity of the roof (it is slightly curved in the middle) repeats the motifs of the mountain landscape.

House BM in Waarschoot, Belgium by Bakermat atelier voor architectuur

Saturday, May 6th, 2023

Article source: Bakermat atelier voor architectuur

The original house dates from 1959, the home of the current occupant’s grandmother. A typical Belgian subdivision house of that time. Sober in detailing, limited in daylight and with no connection between the living space and the garden.

The current residents, a newly composed family with large age differences, needed more space. Mainly the parents felt the need for their own living space again. A space rich in daylight with a connection to the garden. An extension with a focus on lifelong living.
