Own House in Poland by ZONA Architekci

Monday, October 9th, 2017

Article source: ZONA Architekci

The project of the house is a very specific and at the same time unique challenge for an architect. Each line sketched by the designer is a reflection of the Investors dreams. In the case of this house project, the Metaforma Group was able to cooperate with clients from a very beginning of the investment process to the finishing point that was the interior design. The comprehensive approach to the topic has created a consistent whole. The residents did not have a full vision of how the building should look like. They were relying mostly on the sensations they wanted to feel inside the house.

Parmelia Street House in Fremantle, Western Australia by PHILIP STEJSKAL ARCHITECTURE

Monday, September 25th, 2017

Article source: PHILIP STEJSKAL ARCHITECTURE

The project site sits on the corner of two quiet suburban streets in the beach-side suburb of South Fremantle. The area is characterised by single storey weatherboard workers’ cottages of the late 19th Century. Many have been restored, typically brought back to their original footprint of 2 rooms and a corridor, lean-to accretions of subsequent decades removed to make way for a new extension, which is a summary also of our project.

Ma mama, A qui li rifrega Delacroix?! (But mum, who cares about Delacroix?!)

That was the question thrown by a child to his mum while I was waiting on a huge line for the Louvre Museum, in Paris. It made me smile until I realized that the child’s premise was full of truth, it kept a reality that we forget so often.

King solomon elementary school in Israel by Shoshani Architects

Sunday, September 17th, 2017

Article source: Shoshani Architects

The King Solomon School is a Jewish, bilingual and International school in the center of Israel. It promotes holistic education.

The design concept is based on the wish to translate the pedagogical – philosophical idea of the holistic education to an exciting learning experience.

The Star of David symbol was the formal inspiration for the design. The inner shape- created from the intersection of the two triangles- is a hexagon, a shape with universal values.

The library space is attractive to children that would constantly refresh and continue to captivate their interest in books, in reading and in learning, Image Courtesy © Tal Nisim

Eira House in Vale de Cambra, Portugal by AR Studio Architects

Thursday, September 14th, 2017

Article source: AR Studio Architects

Located in the city of Vale de Cambra, the Casa da Eira (literally “The House of the threshing-floor”) was a rehabilitation challenge with about 400m2 of construction.

A century-old house that was very degraded and needed a major overhaul, that would revive the memory of the original design without forgetting the current needs. The owner wanted a residence where he could have a traditional and familiar setting, not forgetting its irreverent and creative side. A place where friends are always welcome.

Casa Portobello in Rio de Janeiro, Brasil by Tripper Arquitetura

Monday, September 4th, 2017

Article source: Tripper Arquitetura

The project starts from the interlocution between a topography that, concomitantly, shapes and is shaped by architecture. Conceived by the architect Marcelo Moura, from the Rio de Janeiro office Tripper Arquitetura, the residence is composed of a succession of overlapping plans, each one starting from the encounter with the ground to launch itself in cantilever, a fact that ends up establishing a double condition: The house is contiguous to the land, providing a perception of single-storey house on all floors, while the floors become slabs in suspension, that is, terraces in height. Through them, the architectural proposition approaches the tradition of the great Brazilian colonial house – the house surrounded by the generous porch. These solariums and balconies are the intermediation between the intimate spaces of the house and the exuberant natural landscape that surrounds it.

Pirogovka Apartment in Moscow, Russia by Le Atelier

Tuesday, August 29th, 2017

Article source: Le Atelier

Our client spent her whole childhood in this apartment, and we were to make it Home for her and her husband. It makes a great difference between reconstructing an old apartment and working with a new one, where you should simply customize and personalize an empty box. In this project the space, originally, was not empty, but was full of memories and emotions. This is exactly the case when you are facing a dual task — you should keep the memories skipping some them and adding something new at the same time. A lot of our spatial decisions were based on this very idea of duality.
