Four Buildings in Avenida Brasil in Cascais, Portugal by Aurora Architects + Furo

April 8th, 2023 by Sumit Singhal

Article source: Aurora Architects + Furo

The project consists of a set of residential buildings with about 3300 m2 located in Cascais. The studios Aurora Arquitectos and FURO sign the architecture.

The site and the great height difference between the street fronts were the generating principle to create four volumes of semi-detached houses. Each of the eight houses is organized into three levels, with the middle level being the social floor. Conceptually, this floor is an open plan divided by functional volumes that house the kitchen, a bathroom, or a closet. The façade is completely glazed. The fluidity of the plan and the transparency of the façade are combined to give the perception of continuity between the interior floor and the landscaped exterior surface that covers the garage and is at the same level as this floor.

Alférez House in Mexico by Ludwig Godefroy Architecture

April 8th, 2023 by Sumit Singhal

Article source: Ludwig Godefroy Architecture

The origin of the concept of Alferez house comes from the idea of a cabin in the wood and its romantic felling of a protective shelter in the middle of the forest. I wanted the house to look like a cube which would have crashed on the floor, among the trees.

Article source: Floisand Studio Architects

Located across from Seattle’s popular Ballard Locks where Lake Union meets the Puget Sound Pagliacci Pizza’s newest location honors the legacy of a historic structure while demonstrating an appropriate path forward for future use. The original design is a heavy timber replica of a six-beam Haida house a traditional style of building by the Haida Tribe which opened in 1939 as a Native American curio shop before serving as a restaurant space starting in 1945. Today, the building has been thoughtfully reimagined for Seattle’s beloved pizza chain by the talented team at Floisand Studio Architects.

GDL 3 House in Jalisco, Mexico by Ezequiel Farca

April 7th, 2023 by Sumit Singhal

Article source: Ezequiel Farca

The design of GDL 3 House located in Zapopan, Mexico, became a challenge due to the many restriction zones into the plot which led us to consider a house with a narrow front, developing the architectural program in a longitudinal direction from the front side to the rear side of the plot. At the same time, we took advantage of the restrictions zones to allow natural lighting and ventilation into the rooms.

The program composed by three floors and one underground garage place the bedrooms and bathrooms in the intermediate floor, and the social areas in the lower and upper floors. The materials palette was chosen to create sober, elegant, and contemporary environments.

School under a Neem in Gujarat, India by Dhulia Architecture Design

April 7th, 2023 by Sumit Singhal

Article source: Dhulia Architecture Design

The extension block at Dr Dhaval Rajnikant Mehta primary school is a depiction of the age-old Indian tradition of gaining knowledge under a tree located at the centre of the village. The village of Shapar is an industrial settlement with most of its population being daily wage factory workers from different Indian states. The children often quit education due to the nature of the parent’s jobs and wind up looking after their younger siblings and providing them meals.

However, this school has students way more than the infrastructure they had because of good education and free midday meals. This encouraged the parents to send students to school and take interest in their educational well-being.

Caixaforum Cultural Center in Seville, Spain by Guillermo Vázquez Consuegra

April 7th, 2023 by Sumit Singhal

Article source: Guillermo Vázquez Consuegra

The Cultural Centre CaixaForum represents the potential of fighting against difficulty, against (pre-existing) constraints. It is built mainly inside a prevailing concrete skeleton that was meant to be an underground parking area.

The project coherently resolves two crucial issues when dealing with existing buildings: accommodating the new uses and making them visible (even being underground).

Article source: LAMBER + LAMBER

LAMBER + LAMBER have complete a creative studio located in Modena, North of Italy. The office are located inside and existing volume once used for the production of the famous “aceto balsamico”. The studio works with a simple and strong concept of the box in the box interior. The offices itself is two storey high which each floor representing a formally different spatial organization. A green spiral staircase made by metal and wooden steps connects the two floors. The other specific element of the office is the entrance conceived as a small public space inside the existing building, acting as a filter between the street and the interior. The ground floor is conceived as an open plan, one continuos space in which the elements of forniture could be freely distributed, one continuous and sinous wall contains all the services (small kitchen, bathrooms, and technical storage). The second floor (private office part) is strictly divided by trasparent walls. The first floor is visually connected to the ground floor trough a narrow double height space enlighted by internal window.
