CLOU architects was commissioned by Vanke to design the fourth floor atrium of the newly opened Future City Mall in Qingdao. Located in Qingdao’s northern district, Vanke Future City is a brand-new shopping and leisure destination devoted to the mingling of aesthetics, creativity and social experiences, hoping to bring a fresh vitality to Qingdao’s old town and its surroundings.

The crux of the design challenge was to create an iconic social space, tempting customers to the upper levels of the mall, and energizing its retail and dining areas. This led to the concept of an immersive jungle garden.

From the Garden House in Łąka, Poland by KWK PROMES

The “From The Garden House” design was an unusual experience for us. The owner had already had a design of the garden, which was well under way. All that was missing was a house. At the time, it seemed like a ridiculous reversal.

Hair of Istanbul Hair Transplant Clinic in Turkiye by Slash Architects

March 6th, 2023 by Sumit Singhal

Article source: Slash Architects

“Hair of Istanbul” Hair Transplant Clinic is an 450 sqm interior design project located in Yalı Ataköy Complex in Istanbul, Turkey. Two flats in the third floor of a residence building are merged for the clinic.

To create a technological healing place, concept of the clinic design is wrapped around an idea of “digital forest”. These two seemingly conflicting themes are brought together to support each other in the design. As a result of being a health center the feeling of a sterile environment is established with a minimalistic approach shaped around the concept of “flat design”, easy-to-clean surfaces, and the use of white color in different materials. The use of technology with elements such as sensor doors, mirror screens, video walls have also been integrated into the project to support the operation of a modern health facility.

House K in Sulzberg, Austria by Dietrich Untertrifaller

March 2nd, 2023 by Sumit Singhal

Article source: Dietrich Untertrifaller

In the far north of the Bregenzerwald lies the small community of Sulzberg on the ridge of the same-named mountain. We built a house on a steep slope in the middle of a densely built-up residential area, which makes perfect use of the limited plot of land. Due to the extreme slope, we have divided the spaces into three floors. You enter the house on the street side on the top level via a wide footbridge. Here you will find the garage, a small guest room and the spacious, open living room. Designed with maximum transparency and openness, it is only structured by the free-standing kitchen unit. The entire south front is glazed and, together with the terrace in front, celebrates the fantastic view over the Bregenzerwald to the high Vorarlberg mountains. The wide cantilevered roof panel provides protection from the weather and excessive sunlight.

In an urban context where adjoining houses are necessarily attached to each other at the side walls to form a linear succession of juxtaposed volumes, materials and heights, this project seeks to vindicate a different way of engaging with urban planning and approaching the potential forms of a single-family dwelling, as well as its relationship with its surroundings.
