Chongqing Gaoke Group Ltd Office in China by Aedas

September 23rd, 2022 by Sumit Singhal

Article source: Aedas

Completed in 2022, Aedas-designed Chongqing Gaoke Group Ltd Office Project utilises a simple elegant form. It is derived from the northern light, which creates the twisting shape of the 180m tall tower to form expressive double-curved surfaces on the building façades. Vertical lines accentuate the minimalistic form and through the effect of reflection and refraction from the glass create a design statement that celebrates light as the major tool to define architecture.

Stands at the north of Xingfu Plaza, the project is located in Jiangbei District of Chongqing. The surrounding environment has already been developed in a spacious plot, and one big challenge for the designer is to interpret planning concept of “solar”, into an iconic landmark well-integrated in the existing community context.

Taipei Performing Arts Center in Shilin District, Taiwan by OMA

September 23rd, 2022 by Sumit Singhal

Article source: OMA

An ancient art form for civic participation, theater has evolved into the modern world as a vocation of the culturally refined, with its significance in daily life diminished. Theater space is valued for its potency for formal cultural productions, rather than its power to include and divert, and to be instantaneous. Contemporary performance theaters increasingly become standardized: a combination of two different-sized auditoria and a black box, with conservative internal operation principles for authentic work. Can a public theater still be inclusive, accommodating the classic and the serendipitous, the highbrow and the masses, the artistic and the social a place for the creative life of all?

Among all the spaces around man, the most effective one is ‘HOME’ where one can experience a sense of belonging and gets used to it.

The architecture of today’s houses, is just defined and limited among the boundaries used as sleeping spaces, and not a delightful atmosphere, thus this causes some people to lose vitality and dynamism. Meanwhile, by looking at the past, we would find out that with the presence of nature in combination with the houses, life was way different from today.

The theoretical foundation of the LEMAN residential complex

Sportsmen training center in Druskininkai, Lithuania by Architektūros linija

Article source: Architektūros linija

Designed in a spectacular, fragile natural area surrounded by tall pine trees, this is the largest athlete training centre in Lithuania. The rationality of its shapes and the functionality dictated by the typology of the building was discreetly matched to the expressive terrain without encroaching on the local context. The varying-height gymnasiums manage to avoid belittling the natural environment around them, rather accentuating its scenic nature and grandeur.
