Article source: Buratti Architetti The project for the new headquarters of Atieva, a Silicon Valley based company involved in research and production of electric cars, has two main parts: the interior renovation of an existing office building and the new outdoor entrance. INTERIOR HEADQUARTERS The project for the new headquarters is about the new layout of the interior spaces, especially on the public areas such as the entrance, the lounge spaces, meeting and conference rooms and so on. These are the most representative space in the building, that will involve both employees, clients, suppliers and everyone who will be invited at the company.
For this reason the project is focused in these spaces, making some impressive elements to show the company identity but, at the same time, making easy and comfortable spaces for the employees. When you will enter in the building you will find in front of you a big white glass wall with the company logo. The reception desk (glossy black glass) will be on the right side, with a colored glass wall on the back. On the left side there will be a lounge waiting area with a strong back lighted metal covering made using a folded perforated brushed stainless steel. This space aims to be the presentation of the company, so we want to have impressive and special elements. Other special spaces will be the two glass meeting-rooms and the board meeting-room. In the middle of this area there will be the “glass island” made using a partition system with special glasses, transparent in the lower part (50 cm) and withe-opal in the upper part. This solution will allow very bright rooms inside with good privacy at the same time. From outside these rooms will be like a giant “white lantern”, with a dramatic effect. For the board meeting room the same kind of glass will be used to separate the interior from the workspace area, and white technical fabric curtains on the wall with windows to have privacy from outside. The small meeting rooms take place in the existing rooms and will be characterized by white painted walls, square or circle table in the middle and a suspended lamp above. These kind of rooms have the maximum level of privacy, all enclosed by wall and, most of them, without windows. A lounge area, just outside of the kitchen door, is composed with sofa and armchairs free placed in front of the wall, for a break or an informal meeting. In the corridors and in the back lounge area same walls will have special graphics and images. OUTDOOR ENTRANCE This new project for the outdoor entrance aims to be an impressive solution, with bigger outdoor spaces and wider and more important passage form the parking to the entrance door. The three main elements of the new project are: the totem , the roofing and the wall. The totem is a very high element (as the existing building, about 8.80 m) that gives visibility to the company logo placed on the upper part and, at the same time, shows the new image of the company. This item is made by a structural metal frame with a covering of perforated folded metal sheets in the two main sides; this material is the same used in the entrance lobby, but in a bigger scale and completely painted in black (or dark grey). In the night time the white lights placed inside the structure gives a precious and strong effect to the totem that becomes a big dramatic lamp. From the parking area to the entrance door there will be a big platform roof with rounded pillars and a flat roof that has a special mirrored steel ceiling. Walking under this roof you can have a special impression to get in a space that seems to have a double-high instead the usual. This big roof creates a large protected space just outside of the entrance door, a large landing area near the parking and a wide sidewalk: in these spaces people can stay approaching or leaving the building. A third element of the composition is the wall on the sidewalk, covered with yellow back-painted glass as the reception wall. Contact Buratti Architetti
