The Triangeln project is large and complex mixed use building with a wide variety of functions including retail, residential, office and parking spaces incorporated in a very limited area. These functions are woven together from a range of different properties and building bodies in a coherent multistory building.

The completion of the Triangeln station, located 150 meters from the building, has been an important requirement for the design of the Triangeln project. The new station has become a catalyst of change for the southern Malmö, as more people are moving to this part of town. Above all, as more people arrive from Malmö’s surrounding areas, the Triangeln has become one of Malmö city’s primary gates. The new building is in the spotlight, as it greets the commuters coming out of the underground station. Malmö Municipality is in the process of creating the city’s new living room, between the St. John’s Cathedral in the east, The Art Gallery in the west as well as Triangeln Project in the north, effectively turning the city’s backside into its new front face.

• The two underground floors house mainly parking areas. The top of the parking plan is linked to the existing parking garage of the Triangeln block. In addition to the parking lot, large loading areas, as well as the building’s various service and technical areas are provided underground.

• Ground and second floors are dominated by a shopping centre, which is internally connected to the existing building’s commercial complex on both levels. These connections allow people to pass through the entire block in different ways. The main entrance of the shopping centre is strategically located across from Triangeln station, in the southwest corner of the building.

• Resting on the two shopping floors, is a five storey residential structure facing the street to the south, with a recessed penthouse level. The western side facing the street, is occupied by a four storey office structure.

• A twelve storey high residential building rests on the four storey office building. This tower is visible throughout the city of Malmö; notably, even the lowest residential floor provides a formidable view of the city and its surroundings.

Three additional residential volumes of varying sizes and types are incorporated into the Triangeln project, as well as a large number of bicycle parking spaces, various service and technical areas. A green courtyard, with shared roof gardens on several levels, as well as private roof terraces, are nestled on the top of the shopping floors. This ensures commendable conditions for a varied living environment in a central city location.

• The different building volumes provide a great variety of residences in terms of size, shape and interior qualities. The project includes a large number of smaller apartments, neighbouring some very large apartments.

• The ground floor façade is clad in gray granite which frames the large display store windows and entrances. Dark red-brown façade brick is used on the office building to the west and residential building in the south. Lighter materials are used mostly on the west façade, where the pale yellow limestone clads the second storey, marbled white ceramic tiles cover the high rise residential portion.
