Article source: GBPA Architects After winning an invited competition, GBPA Architects was commisioned to design an office building in Monte Grappa street, situated in the heart of Milan fashion district nearby the Central Train Station and other main landmarks. The brief was to totally re-design and refurbish the old Tecnimont Headquarters, an iconic building from the 70s with a very distinctive facade in anodised aluminium and glass, materials chosen to evoque and enlight the Company’s power and technical skills.
GBPA design aims to improve and regenerate the surrounding area by changing the actual dark heavy cladding with a new more see-through glass facade in order to allow the perceptive overlapping between the indoor and outdoor spaces and to dramatically improve the natural lighting into the building. The project requires partial demolition of the building to create a large covered public square which will become the official main entrance. Finally, a green/living roof will host a series of photovoltaic system. Contact GBPA Architects
