Neue Mitte Perlach in Munich, Germany by AllesWirdGut

Tuesday, September 25th, 2018

Article source: AllesWirdGut

Strong Basis

With their design of the Perlach Plaza, AlleswirdGut provide an important puzzle stone in the urban development of the new “KulturQuadrat” quarter on Munich’s Hanns Seidel Square. An urban mixed use of retail and service businesses, restaurants, residential units, and a hotel make Perlach Plaza the calling card of the new Neuperlach neighborhood.

At the heart of the master plan is a roughly 5,000 square meter central park enclosed, and shielded, by buildings. On a total gross floor area of 50,000 square meters, high-quality usable floor space is being developed in the mixed-used complex of Perlach Plaza with direct connection to the subway system, the cultural center on the north side, and the park through a transit floor.

Oiselle Flagship Store in Seattle, Washington by goCstudio

Monday, September 10th, 2018

Article source: goCstudio

Oiselle is a well established Seattle company with a close knit community of dedicated athletes. The project brief proposed an interesting challenge; how to create a small but flexible flagship store that would simultaneously accommodate a seasonally changing selection of apparel and accessories as well as becoming a ‘club house’ of sorts for Oiselle’s running community. The space needed to welcome running meets, marathon watch parties, and athlete signings while still functioning as a retail store.

Elmwood Court in London, England by C.F. Møller Architects

Sunday, August 12th, 2018

Article source: C.F. Møller Architects

Elmwood court is a 5 storey, 22 unit affordable housing scheme for Peabody in Battersea, London. The building is situated on an open, underutilised car park within an existing Peabody Estate. The new residential block continues the land-use pattern of the remaining Victorian terraces along Battersea Park Road, with ground floor retail and housing above.

There are two well defined residential entrances to separate cores flanking the retail space which will enliven the urban realm and fill a void in the streetscape. The street façade comes forward to the line of adjacent buildings, maximising the courtyard space to the rear.

Naiipa Art Complex in Bangkok, Thailand by Stu/D/O Architects

Tuesday, July 31st, 2018

Article source: stu/D/O Architects

Naiipa (Literally means ‘Deep in the Forest’) is a mixed use project consisted of an Art Gallery, Sound Recording Studio, Dance Studio, Restaurants, Coffee Shops, and Office Spaces. It is located on Sukhumvit 46, a small street that connects Rama 4 road to Phrakanong BTS Station on Sukhumvit road. The project is named after the concept of concealing the architecture in the forest as the vision of greenery is expanded by using reflective glass all around.

Upon arrival, visitors are greeted with the project’s main feature and driving force in design, a groups of large, pre-existing trees in its center. From the very beginning, the goal of Naiipa has been to create architecture that seamlessly co-exist with the trees, providing a peaceful and inspiring art community for both its occupants and visitors.

Renasant Bank in Memphis, Tennessee by brg3s Architects

Tuesday, July 17th, 2018

Article source: brg3s Architects

Union Avenue is dominated by retail developments with asphalt parking areas separating the building facades from the street. The design challenges this trend by bringing the building forward interrupting the ubiquitous line of parked automobiles. This urban design approach provides enhanced visibility for the retail center’s tenants, and provides pedestrian amenities along a typically car-centric corridor. Vehicular parking is provided at the north side of the building where primary entrances to each tenant are located.
