Montessori Children’s School in Belo Horizonte, Brazil by MEIUS ARCHITECTURE

“To help a child, we must provide them with an environment that allows them to develop freely” – Maria Montessori.

Taking this phrase as a design premise, we needed to serve the client in a specific way, thinking like children. Firstly it would be necessary to choose colors that could suit the children, taking into account the importance of primary colors. However, we did not want to work with saturated colors in the interior, so we adapt furniture, carpentry and coatings with a more neutral palette.

Volcano House in London, England by Urban Mesh Design Ltd

November 12th, 2018 by Sumit Singhal

Article source: Urban Mesh Design Ltd

The interiors of the home were playfully designed to suit the desires and personalities of Lazarus and his family. As a result, the home is filled with colourful and individual touches throughout. In the main dining space sliding pastel green kitchen units are complemented by a cantilevered sea-blue wrap-around leather banquette and reclaimed peach church pew. Glass doors disappear into walls, neon hearts glow, stairs become periscopes. In the 3rd floor master bathroom a well placed step puts the 6’3” and 4’11” couple at equal heights at double stone sinks as well as providing access to a secluded street facing bamboo terrace.

MVRDV Designs Renovation of a Listed Heritage Building on an Island in Wrocław

MVRDV has released its proposed design for the Concordia Hub, a renovation and extension of a 19th-century listed building on Słodowa Island in Wrocław, Poland. MVRDV’s design retains the façade of the existing building and adds a contemporary extension to the rear, creating a focal point for the neighbouring park and a destination that will attract more visitors to the Island.

The German Army used Słodowa Island as a base for artillery in 1945, meaning that almost all of the structures on the island were destroyed during the Siege of Breslau in the final months of World War 2. The existing building is notable as the only remaining survivor after a handful of other structures were demolished, with the rest of the island now serving as a popular public park at the heart of the city, and the host of a number of festivals and cultural events.

San Jose Preschool in Cajicá, Colombia by Taller de arquitectura de Bogotá

The project was formulated as a series of isolated volumes, a village of knowledge that takes the organic character of the natural context of the place and the “small scale” of its users, (children between the ages of 4 to 6). The units are articulated through a covered circulation that forms a patio or an “amorphous cloister” with abundant landscaping.
