What shape of life can an architect suggest to people in a new town in which apartment complexes will be built? The location is the community living area in Gimpo Newtown. The building will be used for a neighbor hospital and other businesses, and we had an expectation that this building would be an open-space in such dense region.
We wanted to bring the series of nature nearby—Modam Mountain, the birds eco-park and Han River—into the building. Besides the given Floor Area Ratio, we decided to use the green space that connects the inner and outer space of the building to create a terrace. The terrace brings the landscape of the surrounding nature in, as well as it provides an inner landscape with the plants installed. I hope people will find this building while driving by on the 48-free way not with the signs but with the cross-terraces.
