Marian. Single-family house in Ullastrell, Spain by miliunarquitectura

June 7th, 2018 by Sumit Singhal

Article source: miliunarquitectura

The house sits on the southeast slope of Ullastrell, a tranquil village about 45 minutes from Barcelona.

An old concrete mass wall contains the inclined terrain, which is 4 meters high above the street. We chose to preserve it and reinterpret it as a plinth for the new building.

Article source: Re Arquitectura + DAO

Contenedores Franceschi is a project born from the heart of a family that loves nature and is concerned about the environment, following that natural cycle of growing, they see the need to increase the space in which they live so that everyone has their independence and privacy but still stay together, they decide to build three apartments, in the property where they built their house and live about 20 years ago, a terrain adjacent to the canyon of the Uruca River, in Santa Ana, west of San José, Costa Rica.

The premise was to create 3 independent units, low impact with the environment, which respects the privacy of the existing house, adapting to the available budget.

Hotel The Dutch in Maastricht, Netherlands by Ontwerpbureau Reiters

June 7th, 2018 by Sumit Singhal

Article source: Ontwerpbureau Reiters

There’s a new funky kid in Maastricht: hotel The Dutch. Although the name suggests otherwise, you’ll find here everything except Delftware, wooden shoes and tulips. At The Dutch, situated in a beautiful mansion, you imagine yourself back in the ‘80s of today. Expect the colors of Miami Vice, the coziness of Full House and the out-of-this-world elements of Alf. Discover a classy mix of rotating disco balls, pink flamingos, pop ups of ‘The Hoff’ and fitness lady Jane Fonda who ‘wants you to take the stairs’. Definitely a place that Madonna then and now would enjoy to the fullest. ‘Let’s hear it for the boys’ of Twin Peaks Hospitality! Besides Hotel Beaumont and restaurant Harry’s owners Jean-Marc and Christophe Beaumont created another outspoken hotel concept with a one of a kind holiday experience in the beautiful city of Maastricht.

New railway station in Georgia by J.MAYER.H

We are celebrating the completion of the new railway station in Georgia. The international railway station in Akhalkalaki is part of the construction of the new Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway, that connects Azerbaijan and Turkey through Georgia, effectively improving the wider economic relations between Europe and Asia. As a break of gauge is required in Akhalkalaki, as the first stop on Georgian side after the Turkish border, the station as well as the city will become a place of exchange beyond connectivity for all three countries. With its undulating cantilevers the station’s roof and meshed metal façade will give shelter to up to 3 million passengers per year.

Abo Residence in Nagoya, Japan by KIDOSAKI ARCHITECTS STUDIO

The property was on a low hill, and the client wanted the brand new residence in the familiar environment.  The east side was a steep slope with the open front, and his top priority was the “dwelling space with the living room with the extensive view where he can spend the extraordinary life.”  The client was well aware of my design style to details, and was convinced that “the dwelling space of my wish and your style resonate each other.”

CAL Architects Studio in Guangzhou, China by CAL Architects

June 7th, 2018 by Sumit Singhal

Article source: CAL Architects

This is a simple building with a five-year tenancy term. With so many unfavorable conditions—a limited budget, no historic value of the factory, an old wall that cannot be dismantled—how can a unique office space be created? We considered the key issues of how to balance the setting and the relationship between old and new.

It is easy for designers to envision a project with a limitless budget or desirable location, but it is difficult to combine materials and environment to convey transcendental characteristics in a particular space under various restrictive conditions.

CR House in São José dos Campos, Brazil by Obra Arquitetos

June 7th, 2018 by Sumit Singhal

Article source: Obra Arquitetos

The main request of the couple was to make a house with roof and great offer of external area. We proposed a large sloping roof in metal structure and L-shaped installation, where the yard turned into a large lawn fully integrated with the internal space. The large frames allow the total opening of the spaces on the ground floor by diluting the boundaries between the interior and exterior. Still on the ground floor there is a service and kitchen core that does not have access to the central lawn.
